The Glide sequence in Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories.

Glide (グライド Guraido?) is a skill introduced in Kingdom Hearts. It allows the user to ride the wind and travel over distances in the air. It can be used as a faster mode of transportation than running, or as an evasion technique.

Story[edit]

Kingdom Hearts[edit]

In Neverland, Peter Pan asks Tinker Bell to sprinkle her pixie dust over Sora, Donald and Goofy so that they can fly in Neverland. After Sora seals Neverland's Keyhole, the party obtains the Glide shared ability.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days[edit]

In Neverland, Tinker Bell sprinkles her pixie dust on Roxas so that he can fly in this world. After his first mission in Neverland, Roxas gains the Glide panel.

During Roxas's final fight with Xion, Roxas uses Glide to dodge Xion's beams of light.

Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory[edit]

In The Final World, Kairi uses Glide to chase down scattered fragments of her heart.

Mechanics[edit]

Ventus using High Jump, then Glide.

In Kingdom Hearts, Glide is a shared ability. It is activated by holding Circle while in midair, X in the Japanese release.

In Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, Glide is a movement ability that can be used by Sora. It is automatically equipped when learned, and it is activated by pressing and holding Circle in midair, X in the Japanese release.

In Kingdom Hearts II, Glide is a growth ability that costs 3 AP to equip. It allows Sora to glide by holding Square in midair, slowly floating downward until he lands on the ground. When activated, Sora will remain in place until Left Stick is tilted in a direction. Leveling it up decreases the descent angle of the glide, allowing Sora to stay aloft longer, even staying aloft permanently at LV3, as well as increasing his gliding speed. When using Glide, Sora can transition between it and other aerial actions. While Glide causes Sora to start slow and move faster according to the level of the glide, abilities such as a high-level Aerial Dodge give him momentum to start gliding at full speed right away.

In Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Glide is an ability panel that can be leveled up from Glide LV1 to Glide LV2, Glide LV3, Glide LV4, and Glide LV5 by linking Glide LV+ Ⓛ (グライドアップⓁ Guraido Appu Ⓛ?, lit. "Glide Up Ⓛ") panels. Each level decreases loss of altitude, increases acceleration and maximum glide speed, allows for tighter turning, increases the time the user can glide continuously at ground level, and decreases the delay time after ending a glide before other actions can be performed. It is activated by pressing and holding Y while in midair. It cannot be used in certain areas, such as The Grey Area or Station Plaza on Day 357.

In Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, Glide is a movement command exclusive to Ventus that is activated by pressing and holding Circle while in midair. It has a maximum level of 1.

In Kingdom Hearts Re:coded, Glide is a Bonus Booster ability that can be leveled up from Glide Lv.1 to Glide Lv.2. It is activated by holding Y while in midair. Data-Sora can transition to and from Glide while using other aerial actions, such as Air Slide.

In Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, Glide is a movement command exclusive to Sora that is activated by pressing and holding B while in midair. Gliding will disable the use of all commands until Sora lands.

In Kingdom Hearts III, Glide is a mobility ability that can be used by Sora that costs 1 AP to equip. It allows Sora to glide by holding Circle in midair. It has a high speed and low rate of descent. If Doubleflight is equipped, pressing Circle in midair will activate Doubleflight. However, holding Circle on the initial jump triggers Glide instead.

In Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory, Glide can be used by holding Circle while in midair. The user will stay at a fixed level without descent while Glide is being used.
