Weapons (KHD) sandboxes[edit]

Hey there. I'm all for working together. In fact, I should've checked to see if you were working on this since you made the other pages. I swear, the similar formatting was a coincidence; I was using the Ultimania scans and the weapon pages' stats as a model.

What do you say we split the workload four-and-four? Apart from finishing Vexen, one of us can do Lexaeus, Saïx, Demyx, and Luxord; the other can do Zexion, Axel, Luxord, and Larxene.

Also, my projections are telling me the page will be over 250,000 bytes. It may be wise to split each section above the five bonus characters (Riku, Donald, Goofy, the King, and Sora) into its own page, which are around 18,000 bytes each.

There are also a few other things I'd like to suggest:

  • How does it look to put the panel names directly next to the weapon names? I got the idea from the 358/2 Days Ultimania scans (1 2), which list them as "Required Panels" with the leftmost placement after the names, rather than "Obtained". (It's not an exact recreation of the Ultimania graphs, though.) Meanwhile, the other Ultimania listings put the "Obtained" segments all the way to the right for other Keyblade graphs.
  • The different stats of the bonus characters' basic weapons should be addressed better than just using slashes like their stat charts do. That's why I staggered the stats in my list based on each weapon panel.
  • For consistency with the other weapon pages, would you mind if the image sizes were changed to 70x70px?
  • The Wooden Stick and Struggle Bat are outliers since they are only used in specific missions. How about giving them a little subsection like the "temporary weapons" on the KH weapon page?

I can do the edits for any suggestions you agree with, so you won't have to worry yourself about that. Most of my time was spent fiddling with the table arrangements, so I've gotten used to it. Immblueversion (talk) 19:45, 28 January 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for answering. First, some of the things were discussed on Discord. Notably:
  • While the page will end up at 250,000 bytes, it is less than the biggest page on the wiki, and this one loads without any issue, so it was decided not to split the page
  • It was decided that it was not necessary to put the number at the end of panels, so it could be left as Phantom Gear, but it can be added if needed.
In addition, for the other points:
  • The reason I put "Obtained" at the end, instead of "Required Panels" at the start, was for consistency with the other weapon pages.
  • I didn't know what the slashes meant, so I just put them as is.
  • The image size has been selected depending on the weapon so everything can fit on one line, without arkward line breaks. This page has more column than the other pages, so the images need to be smaller.
  • For the Wooden Stick and the Struggle Bat, I agree we could move them to a temporary weapon section, maybe alongside the story version of Oathkeeper & Oblivion.

Alright. I'm not sure what image sizes would be best, so for now I'll add them in 30px and we can work them out later. Immblueversion (talk) 14:18, 29 January 2024 (UTC)

A little while back, I got the Magic and Defense stats backwards on the sandbox, since I was following the in-game stat order and Ultimania guide (Magic before Defense) instead of what's on Template:InfoWeapon358 (Defense before Magic). I've already fixed them all to match the sandbox categories, but do you think they should be listed by in-game order after all? If so, I volunteer to change it.

For consistency, Template:InfoWeapon358 can easily be changed just by swapping the Magic and Defense categories, and all the weapon pages will fix themselves. Immblueversion (talk) 17:52, 14 February 2024 (UTC)

The idea was thrown around in Discord, and it seems like using game/Ultimania order is ideal (actually, the accessory infobox does that already, not sure why Keyblades were different to begin with). But I'd rather not make you, Zawza, or anyone else manually swap hundreds of columns in a page 250,000 bytes large, so I wrote an excel formula real quick to do it for us automatically.
Putting this in small text, since I doubt anyone knows or cares about Excel stuff, but if you were curious: I made it copy every line and swap the order only if the current row is a certain number of lines after the nihongo template. The exact formula, shown here for line 50, is: =IF(OR(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("nihongo",A45)),ISNUMBER(SEARCH("nihongo",A46)))),A52,IF(OR(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("nihongo",A43)),ISNUMBER(SEARCH("nihongo",A44))),A48,A50)). Such is the joy of working with spreadsheets.
Anyway, the sandbox should be all good to go. —Aid1043 07:03, 15 February 2024 (UTC)
That was swell of you. Thanks! Immblueversion (talk) 13:08, 15 February 2024 (UTC)
