Like in most Kingdom Hearts games, enemies will sometimes drop items when they are defeated. However, in Kingdom Hearts Re:coded, enemies will drop item boxes containing commands that can be installed in the Command Matrix. These commands can range from Attack Commands, Magic Commands, and Item Commands.
Items
The items you recieve are based on what Difficulty Level you have set the game to play on. Most often, better items are found at harder difficulties, with a lesser chance of them appearing. For example: A Soldier will drop a Potion when it is defeated on a Beginner difficulty. However, on a Critical difficulty, it will drop a Round Blitz command. Since the Difficulty Level is easily changable with the Difficulty Cheat, all of these items can be obtained. Items already obtained can be viewed on the opposite page of the enemy in the Enemy Profiles part of the Debug Reports.
Chance
Trying to find these items can be difficult if you don't alter the percentage of which they appear. For example: A Soldier on Proud difficulty only has a 1.00% chance of it dropping a Rising Strike. These base percentages can be seen with on the same page with the Loot the enemy drops at the listed rate.
However, you can change these odds by upping your Luck with some Lucky Strike Stat Chips. These chips raise your Luck stat, which for every Luck point there is an approximate boost of 0.25% to your odds of getting an item when installed. So if you had a Luck stat of 12, that 1.00% chance becomes a 4.00% chance.
Another trick you can resort to is the Loot Cheat found on the Stat Matrix, after you complete Traverse Town. This greatly improves the percentage of finding loot while reducing the percentage of your Hit Points, with a limit of HP reduciton to 10%. So a 6x tune to a Data-Sora with 300 HP would turn that 4.00% chance would turn into a 24.02% chance of an item being dropped, with a side-effect of a Data-Sora with 210 HP. Combining the Lucky Strike chips with this cheat tuner can really turn around a very low percentage.
