Talk:Necho Cat
Possible name etymology in English version[edit]
Assuming the Dream Eater's name is pronounced "Nek-oh" Cat and not "Netch-oh" Cat, would it be safe to assume the following:
- The Necho Cat's name is derived from a combination of the words "echo" and the more obvious, cat.
I assume the "n" remains in the name to stay true to the Japanese name, but if one is to speculate, it could possibly be a reference to the word "noise," which is all but appropriate considering it's owned by Neku and Noises are the main antagonists of The World Ends With You.
The design further supports this etymology, considering the Dream Eater has a musical note for a tail, as well as bells atop its ears and below its neck.
I post this here simply because I wanted to see what other people thought about it before I added a ton of false info to the article. It only becomes an issue because the article's text does not fit the localized name. - Eternal Nothingness XIII 17:38, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
- Gah, disregard this. Did not count on a change in the article to reflect this being made as I was typing. - Eternal Nothingness XIII 17:40, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
