Good evening/morning/day/afternoon everyone. If you haven't known already, the khwiki has received a new skin! If you would like to checkout the new skin please be sure to try it out. I just started a new forum here, so that anyone who has any suggestions to make improvements or notices any problems with colors, or anything of that nature can come here and place them. Remember, be honest, and constructive criticism is always welcome. Also, be sure to thank Erry and SilverCrono (and whoever else I may have missed) for working on the new skin for us!

Change Requests[edit]

Please, before posting, please, please, PLEASE CLEAR YOUR CACHE. Instructions are as follows.

Mozilla / Firefox / Safari: hold Shift while clicking Reload, or press either Ctrl-F5 or Ctrl-R (Command-R on a Macintosh);
Konqueror: click Reload or press F5;
Opera: clear the cache in Tools → Preferences;
Internet Explorer: hold Ctrl while clicking Refresh, or press Ctrl-F5.

Here we go...

The search bar should be moved to the right, and the magnifying glass image should be made smaller and less pixelated.
The headers for all articles should be dark blue instead of the current light blue, and should have a different font if possible.
The "navigation", "interaction", and "toolbox" headers should have different fonts.
Tabs in articles should not be the same color as the background; it looks awkward.

That's all I can think of right now.

Alright, I'll see what I can do. Please, guys, explode and tell me every single one of your concerns and stuff; this skin won't get better unless you do. This isn't Wikia and Oasis, I'll listen to your opinion :)

*I think the search bar should be longer and aligned to the left.

TAV should be shifted to the right as to not be obscured by the logo.

The main page, discussion, etc. buttons look out-of-place.

What up with the boxes? I mean, I can read the messages just fine when I edit the page. But otherwise, monobook does not like.

My humble opinions...

The search bar should be longer and not in the center, and the magnifying glass should be smaller.
Page titles should be more visible and aligned center.
The "navigation", "interaction", and "toolbox" headers look blurry.
The "Edit" button should be smaller so as not to be a distraction.
Pictures are surrounded by a white box, but that's just a peeve of mine.

Otherwise, it looks great!

EDIT: I also can't tell what's a broken link, they're the same color as actual links.

Okay, not to be totally negative about it, but I can't really say I like it, aesthetically or functionally.

First of all, IT IS SO SLOW. As soon as I started using roundedblue, everything became slower, and by a very large amount. I'm pretty sure it taking at least fifteen seconds for even "Random page" to produce something. I didn't have this issue with Monobook.

The font seems to have changed as well, for the worse. I don't like how the text is now larger, bold now pops more/takes up more space than before, and headers of pages blend in way too much--plus, they just look too subtle. One thing to be fixed is to revert the fonttype to the Monobook form. Also, the tabs in infoboxes seem to be affected as well; the only indicator of the selected tab is an outline, which I find far inferior to the previous box outline.

And is it just me, or are the headers seemingly oversized too (especially the [edit] text)?

Furthermore, the tabs above that say edit, discussion, move, and so forth aren't even connected to the article, and float awkwardly. Then, when you hover over them, the tab itself disappears--that just simply looks bad, as though something is wrong. Similarly, in the top bar, the microscope looks rather atrocious, all pixelated. Is it possible to maybe extract an image used by another wiki using a microscope? I'm not very fond of the placement of our logo either--it doesn't do it much justice to have our big TVA image to the right, and then have our actual logo that links back to the wiki in the very corner of the page, looking very diminished. I'm not sure if it would look any better centered, so it may be just be the banner art.

Now, the side bar is also an issue. I quite liked the expandable side bar we had on Monaco, pre-Oasis. I thought that we were planning on retrieving this design for the new skin. As far as the boxes, they have no consistency in header font. The header font also, in my opinion, should be something more formal, and less playful--the latter of which pertains to its current state.

This is the big one for me: images. In all of the thumbnail images, a horrid white box surrounds the image, looking awkward, as though something is incorrectly sized or placed. And then, oh, the galleries. I weep for them in this skin. All the images now have TWO boxes surrounding them--one as before, another surrounding the direct borders of the image. As if this wasn't bad enough, hovering over them will sometimes produce a blue line that dashes through the image.

Summary: DoorToNothing found a lot of problems. Like, really, a lot.</Azul>

Also, whatever happened to those plans of kicking the BBS theme to the curb and doing the impossible!? That's right, a full series theme, combining elements of the entire series. I was thinking our logo trio could be Sora, Donald, and Goofy or Sora, Roxas, and Ventus. Actually, we had a very large forum about these plans, but I don't remember where it is.

Yeah, DTN. I noticed a lot of the things you said too. Remember, though: this is a HUGE work in progress. I do have a lot of the same complaints; I've even stated some of them already.

That being said, I do like the new skin overall, but it is nowhere near done. I don't really know what can be done about the speed (it didn't change for me), but as for everything else... take it away, SilverCrono!

Interesting points you have brought up DTN. Those are the kind of thoughts and questions/concerns we're looking for about the skin. This way the skin can become really good, so it can be shared with the rest of the internet. This is going to be the skin to represent the wiki, and, as such, it should look like the best wiki around (as well as the best wiki too ^_^).

First of all, tons of thanks for Crono and erry, they're credit to team.

And for Maggosh: you can copy the codes from here to move TAV to the right.

for RoxasNobody: those white box thing is because they're not transparent yet, someone should make them transparent. And I'm willing to help if I have the time.

As for my concerns, I only have three that's not mentioned yet.

The "Toolbox" and "Navigation" has some white traces left, and the "interaction" hasn't made transparent yet. I know removing those white spots isn't easy, so I suggest we thickened the white color to make it look something like the blue-ish border on the word "Kingdom Hearts" on the logo.
According to Crono, the current logo is "on top" of the prototype logo, causing upper-left corner of the prototype logo to be seen behind the current logo, it should be fixed.
Are those edit buttons and supposed to have rounded, bottom-right corners? If yes, then transparency should be made.

Dunno if this happens to anyone else, but when I mouseover some images, a blue line appears right through the image.

Okay, the problems I've noticed and the things which are okay :

The text pages are light blue. PLEASE MAKE THEM WHITE AGAIN ! Not all the images are transparent ! >_>
Are we not gonna switch the logo ? Is everyone okay with it first of all ?
The borders are much better now, only that I recommend keeping the border colour IDENTICAL to the background colour, and keeping the boxes rounded. It's called Rounded Blue for a reason ; please keep it that way.
Please pass me the code for the skin — I'll see what I can tweak over the next few days.
Since a number of people chose Sora/Riku/Kairi, we are going with the Sora/Riku/Kairi theme, are we not ?

EDIT 04:05, 21 February 2011 (EST) : Scrap the borders being identical to the BG, they're fine as they are. But keep the boxes rounded and the pages white instead of blue, please !

I'll change the color of the pages back to white, then. People don't seem to like that. And the logo... we have a new one, thanks to LegoAlchemist, but I can't implement it because only Wiki.png can be set, and since it is bigger than the usual file, it won't fit in Monobook and Vector. Kinda at a crossroads here.

The most recent code is User:SilverCrono/roundedblue.css. I would recommend keeping updated with both it and Recent Changes/your Watchlist so that you can see if I fixed your request. And.... fack, I should have made Lego make a S/R/K logo. I'm so retarded... *facepalm*

I'm not sure how to tweak the Sitenotice, and please remember, guys - I'm just a regular user right now, I can't edit MediaWiki pages. Even as a mod, that will be impossible for me. I'll try and do the best I can, though, so please have faith.

And Doorsey - even though you hate the skin, thank you. This is an example of exactly what I want - if you guys don't tell me what you hate, I can't make you like it. :)

EDIT 11:35, 21 February 2011 (EST): And for the SRK theme, instead of doing a starry sky theme like it is now, how about a Destiny Islands theme? I personally would love it to look like Destiny Islands at sunset, but that probably won't be possible.

EDIT 13:16, 21 February 2011 (EST): I really like the new prototype header, although using a chalkboard theme makes the wiki feel more fan-based, which is what the other wiki is for, and I'm not sure I love the color. If you want to do the drawing thing, you could make it look like the drawings in the cave on Destiny Islands, which might be pretty cool.

Alright, I've added the lines below the ==text== headers, Ive made the content background white again, I've changed the color of red links to - well, red, and... TNE has a new header, but personally, I think it's too... monochrome. Too much like Vector and Monobook. To me, the point of this skin is to differentiate from the plain white/gray of our other two skins.

2. The background should be white due to nat all of the images being transparent.

					Apologies if any of these have been said (I know, it's more than two; sue me!). I didn't see them above. The top of the navigation bubble and page should line up (with the page buttons [user, edit, etc.] being above that). Personally I'm not a fan of the blue shadow on the buttons/tabs atop the page. I know someone said this, but the search bar should be under the logo, perhaps in the nav box. The thing up in the top right, with the personal links, should have padding-top:5px and padding-right:10px just to even its spacing out a bit. Looking good, now! Much better than I had originally seen! ;)

The logo is acting funny again, only now it is normally invisible and appears whenever I put my cursor over it, instead of starting out normally and disappearing when I put my cursor over it.

Oh, and I saw the new headers Erry posted, and I like them. However: the white text would only be visible on the header (which is where the "search" text is presumably going, replacing the pixelated magnifying glass). Unless you change the color of the sidebar, you won't be able to read any of the headers. Will this be changed?

EDIT 20:17, 23 February 2011 (EST): Now that the new Sorikairi skin is up, I'd like to add some suggestions:

The backdrop, although creative, is admittedly a bit boring. Instead of feeling like a background themed after Sora, Riku, and Kairi, it feels like a backdrop for the entire series they just happen to be on. Also, the image of Sora is very grainy.
The logo could use some adjustments. I don't really like the artwork for Riku and Kairi, and the white backdrop makes it feel drab and unappealing. The color does not match anything else in the skin either.
The front page is now yellow, which, although designed to match Riku, is hard to read and does not show up anywhere else in the skin. I suggest either changing it to blue or adding yellow elsewhere in the skin (maybe the borders?).
This is just me being nitpicky, but the "search" button is hard to read compared to the "go", button, as the letters are too close to each other. The "toolbox" header also has different shading from the other two.

Other than that, and any other complaints that haven't been addressed, I think the new skin is fine. I do have to ask: should we use the KHI Or KHII designs for Sora, Riku, and Kairi? I personally vote for KH1, as they are more classic and reflect the series better as a whole, even if I do like the KHII designs better.

Alright, before we continue changing stuff, I'm a bit confused; what are we using? I personally, am using the Terra-Aqua-Ventus Darkblue skin. Trois made a Sora-Riku-Kairi White theme, and Erry (I believe) made a Sora-Riku-Kairi Lightblue theme. Which one is going to be official? Honestly, I don't like having three themes. Before we go any further, I need to know which one you guys want, because I'm not working on three skins. No.

Personally, I like the TAV Darkblue skin. Although the headers Erry made don't match (or could at least be larger), and the Search button is out of place. Thanks for asking permission for that, by the way Erry, real thoughtful. Asking the spearheader of the skin isn't reasonable, what makes you think that? (Well.. thanks for the effort.)

And the logo doesn't match, and yeah, the yellow main page is.. ew.

Two things:

The page interaction tabs overlap the sitenotice.
Could you make said tabs not turn completely transparent when hovered over? The tips of the letters are lost in the background.

Okay, whoo, its been a while. But we've finally fixed some things;

The magnifying glass is now a nice Kingdom Hearts...heart.
The NAGIVATION, COMMUNITY, and TOOLBOX thingies are now readable.
Erry said he would make the GO! and SEARCH identical in size when he woke up, so I guess we can count that done.
