So I've had this question in my head for a while: what ever happened to all the individual sprites for cards and characters from the original Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories? Were the Re:CoM equivalents of the images uploaded over them? Were they deleted? Are they hidden somewhere on the Wiki and just not utilized on any pages? I know some sprites have still survived thanks to templates they might be used in, but I really don't think the original CoM sprites (for all types of cards, characters, and enemies) should be denied their existence on this Wiki. Even if they're just hosted in a gallery somewhere, is there any way we could bring the old images back?

Aren't the character sprites being renamed right now, though?

Eternal Nothingness XIII - I'm not afraid of what the darkness holds now. Even if you do wrest control of my heart from me, even if you cast me into the deepest, darkest abyss, you'll never sway me from the one cause that pushes me to keep on fighting. Whatever the cost, I'm ready to pay it. TALK - There's darkness within me... So what does that matter? I know I'm strong enough to hold it back. — 19:08, 12 July 2014 (UTC)

The talk sprites are. I'm talking about bringing the sprites for cards back, as well as the sprites for the characters as they appear in-game (the full-body sprites, like this one).

It would just be as simple as taking the images from here, though we'd have to credit the original rippers. Lord Obitus 21:02, 12 July 2014 (UTC)
- I could also certainly see the argument against putting them in the articles. When a small sprite is put into a gallery, this happens—rampant anti-aliasing. Lord Obitus 23:49, 12 July 2014 (UTC)
Galleries can be resized, though, so that's not necessarily an issue. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 05:48, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

All of the non-animated CoM Character Talk sprites have been done, renaming wise. There are a couple I need to clean up/make transparent still, as well as rename the animated ones (waiting on a response for correct formatting). I have been using Spriter's Resource to make sure each image is official, sourcing them for newly uploaded sprites, and officials to be put in the Talk Sprite category. Once live sprites are formatted, I am going to experiment trying to animate them, importing each image as a layer on the program I use. About card sprites--I currently do not own CoM, so I have no idea how to reach them, if you're talking about images like this one. (Blasted text color looks like it never linked through!) Concerning full-body sprites like the one ENX linked, I am currently going to upload those who are missing and do reformatting--attempting to animate some of those as well. One thing: There is no category for full-bodied sprites, so filing through galleries is the only way I can find them. The "Character Images from CoM" category got deleted, I do not know why. Mirrored images are to be linked through photobucket. (How do you link pb images in galleries?) I'd be happy to help with the CoM sprites that I can access from SR!
- Edit:The category had a formatting error in the title. Whoops. 19:52, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Not going to lie, I believe our old COM card images were uploaded over because we agreed that the Re:COM looked/looks better. The category for the full body character sprites is Category:Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories character images. Photobucket linking does not work in galleries. I don't believe we've ever found a way around that problem.

I just found this discussion now, so sorry for the late answer. Because I was the one who uploaded the most recent ReCoM cards I still remember why we did it this way. Originally the cards were uploaded over the normal CoM card sprites but the hile histories were lost when we moved. Anyway, there were three main reasons the cards were uploaded over the old ones: 1. Because new cards were introduced in ReCoM keeping the old besides the new looked odd. 2. It was more convenient to replace the images than replacing the file links on every page. 3. There was simply no need to keep the old sprites when they wouldn't appear anywhere.
What also plays a role is how ReCoM replaced the original CoM in almost every other aspect on the wiki. There are a few exceptions of course (like in the story or sleight sections) but for example the cards and enemies stats, descriptions and strategies are made for ReCoM.
