While not making a physical appearence, Kingdom Hearts is mentioned several times throught the course of the story by both Master Yensid and Master Xehanort. In the flashback cutscene entitled "The Keyblade War", Master Yensid explains the legend of the Keyblade War to both Sora and Riku. According to Yensid, Kingdom Hearts was the source of all true light in the World, and was protected by it's counterpart, the X-blade. However, when the Keyblade War occured the X-blade was shattered and the true Kingdom Hearts was swallowed by the darkness. As long as it remains there, darkness will still threaten even the briightest worlds. Master Xehanort also relates this legend to both Riku and King Mickey in The World That Never Was when his new Organization XIII gathers and how he plans to use them as his 13 darknesses to help forge the X-blade and start another Keyblade War.
After Riku defeats [[Anti Black Coat]] Kingdom Hearts appears in the sky above [[The World That Never Was]].<!--Any reasons for why Kingdom Hearts randomly appeared in this one particular scene?-->
