To answer your question, yes. You can make them transparent as long as you have the utilities to. Erry ♓ 04:09, 12 June 2011 (EDT)
Before I choose, I'd like to ask something. Is converting images to .png as simple as opening the image, and saving the image as .png format or do we have to enhance the quality of the image and stuff? If it's as simple as changing the format, then using something as simple as Microsoft Paint would do, no? The17Master 06:38, 13 June 2011 (EDT)
With .png conversion, all you need to do is convert it to .png, if you have the skills to make it transparent, then do so as well to save time. Erry ♓ 07:46, 13 June 2011 (EDT)
But, yes, mspaint would work (except for transparency). KRCCFNF is tired of being STEPPED ON. 09:30, 13 June 2011 (EDT)
Okay, thanks for answering guys! I'll just do the conversion since I'm not really good at transparenting and my Photoshop is a trial version. The17Master 09:51, 13 June 2011 (EDT)
- Photoshop has background eraser, which erases the white background. Chitalian8 10:19, 13 June 2011 (EDT)

@Chitalian: I know, that's why I can't transparent them since my Photoshop is a trial version :S The17Master 01:47, 14 June 2011 (EDT)
Also @Chitalian: But doesn't Photoshop also cost like $200ish? You can get the same result with using GIMP and also GIMP is free too. Its what I use for my image sizing. User:UnknownChaser/Sig2 07:50, June 14, 2011 (EST)
- I say photoshop because my laptop has it, if gimp has it too, then great. Chitalian8 03:10, 18 June 2011 (EDT)
- VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Whenever you replace an image or add transparency, please place the two versions in different tabs, and revert back and forth between the two. If you can visually detect any change between the two, even if it is just a pixel, revert the new version or nominate it for deletion."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 01:52, 17 June 2011 (EDT)
- ADMINs: DO NOT DELETE THE OLD VERSION until you do this. If you've deleted any old versions without doing this, RESTORE THEM NOW AND COMPARE THEM."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 01:53, 17 June 2011 (EDT)
@Lego: I can, I just worded that badly.
Isn't voting finished now. Have we started?Darkheart3 03:07, 21 June 2011 (EDT)

Forum:HD image parsers: Basically,
- If a higher quality image exists of the same/similar scene/character from an HD remake, upload the HD quality over the original lower quality image. You can use Template:HD on the higher quality image's page to show the original version.
- KH3D and KH3DHD are still preferred over KHDDD and KHDDDHD.
Objective 1: Clean Unused Image Category
- Images deemed superseded/unusable should be disputed on the respective image in question's talk page (post the link over here if you think no one is seeing the talk page). Once a consensus is made, the appropriate action can be taken.
- If an image is to be deleted, said image (regardless of who proposes/marks or actually deletes the image) MUST be "archived" over on the Pages for Deletion! This way we have a record of what/where everything went. For non-deleting-powers-users: Post a link of the image in question on the deletion page so an admin can easily access it. Once an admin deletes the image, said admin will remove the now-broken [red] link AND comment with a timestamp saying when the deletion was made. (Admins: Just say "Deleted - user's sig here")
- If an image is deemed "okay to use," find the appropriate place in mainspace articles and galleries. Obviously this is held to each user's own interpretation...Simply put, just be careful and make sure it makes logical sense. We do not want to clog articles up with frivolous images- this is where the gallery space can be used.
- Category:Articles in need of images is your best friend. NOTICE: Just because an image is in this category does NOT mean that it has to be used/deleted. Don't mindlessly delete or add images just to clean this category. The purpose of this objective is to use the images we know have a place in the mainspace. Some images in this category are around "behind the scenes" for various Wiki projects. The numerous .ogg files SHOULD BE KEPT. Once Project Music is complete, they will actually exist in the mainspace. Until then, leave them alone.

Objective 2: Make images into .pngs
- See the initial discussion above about dangers of using crappy image editors- such as paint.
- This project was really completed when we first began this renovation. Think of this objective as more of a shifting through the plethora of image categories and making sure we didn't miss something AND/OR watching the upload log and making sure a .jpg isn't uploaded.
- Any found .jpg images should be linked over to the Pages for Deletion so an admin can properly take care of it. Admins, when you delete said image, make sure you name what the image was called before (in case we run into a broken/red link later). Example: "Mickey mouse kingdom hearts.jpg" -> "Mickey Mouse KH.png"
- If you are uploading the same image (just now in .png format)...make sure you follow the appropriate naming system!! If you do find a .jpg, chances are it has the wrong name.
- I volunteer as tribute. Xion4ever
Objective 3: Make images transparent
- Since most of our images are already .png, I'm removing the first part of this objective when we first started. This is a no-brainer, if you're working on a .jpg image and know it should be transparent- also change it to .png before you upload to the Wiki.
- This is for those with proper image editors. Scan through the character categories (and maybe even some artwork ones) and make sure images have a transparent background. Click on each individual image should reveal this.
-I volunteer as tribute, too. Just let me know which images, and I'll gladly help! KeybladeSpyMaster 01:23, 28 December 2017 (UTC)
Objective 4: Marking images with appropriate templates
Use the following templates on images that need something specific done:
- Template:Bad Name: If an image doesn't meet the appropriate naming schema found here, add this template and put what the proper name should be. Don't just put the template down with no reason- that wastes time. Once a mod/admin has moved the page to the correct name (and fixed/moved any pages currently using the "bad name"), then said admin/mod will remove this template.
IF YOU ARE RENAMING AN IMAGE (OR UPLOADING A NEW ONE) MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THE APPROPRIATE NAMING SCHEMA FOUND here OR BY ASKING ON THIS FORUM - Template:Betterpic: If an image is needed, but is subpar in quality, use this template.
- Template:Relicense: If an image is lacking/has incorrect license information, post this template if you have absolutely no idea what it should be. Otherwise, just do the work yourself- no relicense template needed. Licensing categories can be found over here.
Objective 5: Double check/Add correct licenses/categories
- For licenses, you can see the short blurb above and/or look around at other images to see what is and is not right.
- For categories, this involves shifting through bigger image categories (MACRO) and placing images into appropriate sub-categories (micro). This is more double-checking than a huge objective- I believe we fixed most of these in the past.

If I've missed anything, I will update this forum appropriately. Until then, this will get us started. Sign up and let's keep going! Xion4ever 15:26, 22 December 2017 (UTC)
- Images in question are File:Sprite KH2 Sora N1.png, File:Sprite KH2 Sora N2.png, and File:Sprite KH2 Sora N3.png. They are much larger and seem higher in quality than their misnamed counterparts File:Sprite Sora N1.png, File:Sprite Sora N2.png, and File:Sprite Sora N3.png. Either we reupload over our current images with the higher quality ones resized to 70x96px OR we choose one and delete the other. Xion4ever 15:46, 22 December 2017 (UTC)
- I think re-uploading them over the existing sprites would be the best solution. The reason they are separate is because back then we hadn't decided if we would replace images of the original game with their HD equivalents or not. Now we even can display the change like here but that's not really needed for sprites. --ShardofTruth 09:56, 28 December 2017 (UTC)
