KHWiki:Horseless Headless Horsemann
Template:Enemy The Horseless Headless Horsemann is a secret boss in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. It originally appeared in the Scream Fortress series of updates in Valve's Team Fortress 2. Upon defeating it, Riku receives the Headless Headtaker Keyblade and Demopan Dream Eater.
The Horseless Headless Horsemann is the first character in the Kingdom Hearts series to appear who does not originate from neither Disney nor Square Enix-based media, nor is a character original to the series.
Design
The Horseless Headless Horsemann is a skeleton wearing a black robe with a short charcoal cape, as well as black boots and gloves. Its most distinguishing characteristic is the Jack-o-Lantern it wears in place of a head, with a small branch sprouting from its side. It wields a large battle axe with a malevolent grin carved into its blunt end. The Horsemann has an ever-shifting purple glow.
In the Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance Ultimania, Nomura explains that he chose the Horsemann as a secret boss because he feels that it fits well with the Halloween theme Julius sets.
Strategy
The Horsemann is capable of outrunning Riku, so heavy use of Free-Flow Action is recommended in order to survive. Heavy damage dealing Dream Eater Links are also recommended. Template:Section-stub
Other appearances
Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance
The Horseless Headless Horsemann is fought in two different worlds: The Grid for Sora, and Traverse Town for Riku.
Upon returning to Traverse Town's Second District, Riku is surprised as all the lights flicker before turning off completely. A pool of darkness appears before him, out of it emerging the battle-ready Horseless Headless Horsemann. Upon his defeat, he retreats into the darkness from whence he came, leaving behind a synthesis recipe for the Demopan Dream Eater.
When Sora visits The Grid once more, he is immediately sent to a bizzare, seemingly decaying area reminiscent of his fight with Rinzler. Like with Riku, a pool of darkness appears and out of it comes the Horseless Headless Horsemann. When Sora defeats him, his bones slowly become dust as the Horseless Headless Horsemann leaves behind a new keychain for Sora, called the "Axed Mannhood", the game's equivalent to the Ultima Weapon. Origin
The Horseless Headless Horsemann made its first appearance in Team Fortress 2's Scream Fortress update as the game's first boss monster. It is the undead form of Silas Mann, co-owner of Zepheniah Mann & Sons Quarterly Concern, the company which would later be known as Mann Co. He perished shortly after his brother, Zepheniah, later becoming the Horsemann and haunting the now defunct Mann Manor.
