Mad Tea Cups (スピニングカップ Supiningu Kappu , lit. "Spinning Cups") is an Attraction that appears in Kingdom Hearts III. It allows the user to slide and spin around in large teacups to ram enemies with.
DevelopmentEdit
According to Tetsuya Nomura, the camera of Mad Tea Cups originally showed Sora's point of view at some point during development, however this implementation was scrapped and replaced with a third person view when play testers complained about motion sickness.[1]
MechanicsEdit
In Kingdom Hearts III, Mad Tea Cups can appear as an Attraction Situation Command. It has a base duration of 20 seconds and an indefinite duration during the Strawberry Flan mini-game. When used, Sora, Donald and Goofy each board a giant tea cup that damage enemies 3-5 times upon contact. Sora's cup slides around automatically and can have its direction controlled with , while Donald and Goofy control their cups on their own, with the cups damaging any enemies they make contact with. If a cup hits another cup or an obstacle, it ricochets and accelerates, increasing the power of Cup Rush for 0.2 seconds. The acceleration effect also applies through the use of the Cup Slide command.
Mad Tea Cups is used during the Strawberry Flan mini-game, in which only Sora's tea cup is present, the Finish and Cancel commands are unavailable, and hitting a flan will add it to the stack of flans above the tea cup.

OriginEdit
Mad Tea Cups is based off the Mad Tea Party ride, designed as a spinning teacup ride for Disneyland and later featured in several other Disney theme parks. The ride's name varies between parks however the theme is the same, being themed after the scene in Disney's Alice in Wonderland where the Mad Hatter and March Hare invite Alice to celebrate their Unbirthday Party at the Tea Party Garden.
