Beyond the Door is a musical piece featured in both Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. It is included in the Kingdom Hearts Original Soundtrack, and the Kingdom Hearts Original Soundtrack Complete. The theme was also remastered as with all other music from the original game in the Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX Original Soundtrack for the game of the same name. Its name refers to what lies beyond the Door to Darkness and the heart of all worlds: the great Kingdom Hearts itself. Its orchestration consists of pipe organ, synthesized chorus (which is replaced with real orchestrated chorus for HD 1.5 ReMIX), and tubular bells.
Usage
- In Kingdom Hearts, it is played after defeating the World of Chaos, when Ansem, Seeker of Darkness opens the Door to Darkness leading to Kingdom Hearts. He states that beyond the door lies the power of supreme darkness, but is shocked to find that Kingdom Hearts is filled with light, which destroys him.
- In Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, the song plays during each character's final boss level. When the Lingering Will defeats Terra-Xehanort and Kingdom Hearts closes, it can be heard, ending Terra's story. It plays when Ventus defeats Vanitas and destroys the χ-blade in his Dive to the Heart, as well as when Aqua defeats Terra-Xehanort and dives into the Realm of Darkness to save him.
