Do previously affiliated wikis need to re-affiliate again? --LegoAlchemist 17:48, 17 July 2011 (EDT)

Disney WikiEdit
I know this must be really bold of me to suggest this but its better to keep an eye of such thing and plus Disney owns a great deal of Kingdom Hearts especially the characters and worlds so if this is too much than i understand i will try again at another time. PubGalaxy's RequestEdit
- Whoa, this sounds interesting! I've never heard about these guys, though, so I looked them up. PubGalaxy is a legit business, and they want us? That's pretty cool! :D Still, what exactly does this entail for the wiki? They say they specialize in ad sales, but I'd like more details since I'm not business-savvy.--NinjaSheik 23:24, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

- PubGalaxy's website says they specialize in "website ad space monetization". Monetization is defined as "the process of converting or establishing something into legal tender", meaning they want to take the KH Wiki on as a legal tender? Again, I'm not business-savvy, so I understand, like, nothing about this and what it could mean for the wiki. This seems super cool and amazing beyond belief, but this doesn't sound like a simple affiliation request. This sounds pretty big. Chainoffire said they provided information to discuss the details with us or someone who can represent the community as a whole, but I think the users should be notified about this first and convene on the IRC. This sounds like a lifetime opportunity for the wiki here. I'm going to contact all active staff members and bring this to their attention.--NinjaSheik 19:10, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
- This seems to be more of an advertisement deal than anything else, I think in this case it's up to Porplemontage to decide how it should be approached. --ShardofTruth 22:14, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
- That's what I think, too, but I'd still like more details on the proposal. I had a look around their website to get a better sense of what "Pub Galaxy" is all about. I find it almost hard to believe that there's a company centering advertisement deals. Basically, they want to stick ads on the wiki, is that it? Kryten voted no the proposal, but at the very least, I'm willingly to hear more about it before coming to a decision. Couldn't hurt, right? Also, I'll contact Porplemontage about it.--NinjaSheik 00:35, 27 November 2015 (UTC)
- All right, Porplemontage gave his insight of the matter, which can be seen on his talk page. Like Kryten, he thinks it's in the best interest for the wiki to politely decline. Turns out he's been contacted by ad companies that want to partner with us to place ads on the website, and Pub Galaxy is just another one of those companies. I never cared for ads, as I do find them annoying, so I shall also vote no. I was willingly to hear what Pub Galaxy has to say, but if it doesn't benefit the wiki, then I vote no.--NinjaSheik 20:33, 27 November 2015 (UTC)

From what I saw in the affiliation request, it feels like that if we accept it, we're going down into ad-hell. If we're going to be professional wikis, we can't take ads that don't fit... never mind having ads at all. Nice sweet-talking our way there, PubGalaxy, but even the French word "pub" means 'advertisement'. Firmly saying no. TRSNX 20:57, 27 November 2015 (UTC)
- I'm kind of in agreement with TNX, but I'd need to see a body of their work to get a grasp of their gameplan. But yeah, ad hell is what is currently happening to wikia, and makes some of their content difficult to access, particularly on mobile. I'd tentatively say no. - Ads on wikia on mobile devices are utterly horrendous! My app keeps crashing half the time because of them. So far, majority voted no. Should we ask Chainoffire to contact them to decline their offer?--NinjaSheik 22:42, 28 November 2015 (UTC)
- You want my opinion, these kinds of "requests" should be outright rejected on principle; they always have a major catch that's almost invariably detrimental in the long run. Ultima Spark (talk) 17:54, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
