"Memories in Pieces" is a musical theme composed by Yoko Shimomura that appears in Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories.

Appearances

"Memories in Pieces" plays during the opening cutscene "Promise of a Reunion," beginning as the group chases Pluto through a grassy field and up to the group's arrival at Castle Oblivion.

Composition

"Memories in Pieces" is approximately one minute and fifty-four seconds long and plays at a variety of tempos at different sections. The piece switches between time signatures and keys as the piece progresses. The piece opens with a slower version of "Hand in Hand," and transitions into a more ominious, mysterious section used as the background noise as Marluxia lures Sora to Castle Oblivion. The third section is a variation of "Naminé's Theme," briefly shown and heard as Naminé is shown sketching. The fourth section interrupts the previous theme, using a driving eighth note pattern from the strings, piano, and harp alongside choir-ahs that slowly crescendo into the climax of the section, announcing the trio's arrival at Castle Oblivion.
