Despite portraying a fictional universe consisting of planet-like Worlds that each represent a separate setting based on Disney or Kingdom Hearts-original fiction, the Kingdom Hearts series includes many references to real-world locations on Earth.

Caribbean

Port Royal (a Kingdom Hearts II world) is the name of a real world town in the Caribbean.[1]

China

The Land of Dragons world (also from Kingdom Hearts II) is a reference to Ancient China, occasionally mentioned by local characters.[2]

Japan

Shibuya (渋谷区) is a part of central Tokyo, Japan, famous for its fashion and nightlife. It's the setting of the game The World Ends With You, and the homeworld of Neku, Shiki, Beat, Rhyme, and Joshua.[3]

Other references

  • In the first game, there are both a Earth globe showing the names of the continents and a British flag in Camp, Deep Jungle world.[4]
  • Also in the first game, there is the Big Ben, a real world strucuture in Neverland.[5]
  • Jiminy's Journal have several references to films of the real world.
