KrytenKoro - "It's always best when the other chap is willing to die for his beliefs; you both have the same goal in mind."
TALK -
Okay, so right now our active staff is, in alphabetical order:
Developer
  • Porplemontage
Bureaucrats
  • None
Administrators
  • DoorToNothing
  • KrytenKoro
  • Neumannz
  • Troisnyxetienne
  • Ultima The High Seraph
Moderators
  • EternalNothingnessXIII
  • maggosh
  • ShardofTruth
  • Xion4ever

Obviously, we need to fill some empty spaces, especially due to the audit. Personally, I'd like to get us back up to having a full complement of active staff - fourteen (14), counting all but developer. So, two bureaucrats, eight admins, and four mods. This means we need to elect five new staff members, but also to promote at least two from administrator to bureaucrat.

Based on past discussions, everybody seems to agree that administrators should have prior staff experience, so I think we can all agree to directly promote the current moderators to Administrator - I think we can all agree that they are, invariably, dedicated editors who should have been made admins long ago. With the two bureaucrats being promoted from administrators, this leaves:

  • 2 bureaucrats (previously admins)
  • 1 administrator (previously editor)
  • 4 moderators (previously editors)

I think we can run this like last time:

  1. We nominate various editors for hiring or promotion. You can place a vote for each empty position, so you have seven votes total.
  2. The current staff evaluates the top three bureaucrat nominations, top two administrator nominations, and top six moderator nominations, and promotes their selections.

Because of how badly we need staff members to assist with the audit, I'd like this election to go very quickly - it should be over by Monday evening (wiki-midnight of Tuesday). If there are any objections to that plan, please create a discussion section to voice them; however, I think that everyone here knows each other well enough and is active enough that a short turnaround should not be a problem.

So, here we go.

EDIT: To clarify: YOU HAVE SEVEN TOTAL VOTES, BUT THEY CAN ONLY GO TOWARDS 2 BUREAUCRATS, 1 ADMINISTRATOR, AND 4 MODERATORS. YOU CANNOT TRADE A MODERATOR VOTE FOR A BUREAUCRAT VOTE, OR ANY VARIATION ALONG THOSE LINES.

Nominations

Note: When you add new nominees, please place them in alphabetical order.

  1. DoorToNothing...what to say? I think he's the only person on this wiki more dedicated to a professional veneer to this wiki than I am, and he even took the initiative to set up two new IRC channels for this wiki, so that we have both a noticeboard and somewhere to socialize. He also came up with the idea for the SEIWA in the first place, and has been leading the movement to get other SE wikis to join."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." 1. Kryten has been one of the most vocal about us moving to SEIWA along with DTN, and he has the highest number of contributions anyone has made thus far, most of which are in mainspace. He is ardent about getting articles, pictures and videos in order, and has even been shown to think about the legal consequences of some material before having them put up. And not forgetting that his work on 358/2 Days and Re:Chain of Memories has pushed us forward by a great deal. Most of all, he is only a message away whenever anyone needs help or verification. 6. This guy is just... beyond words. Never I seen a work ethic and eye for detail down to the molecular level of things, it seems often. KrytenKoro is a model user of this wiki, and without a doubt the driving force behind our move off-Wikia. Also, he's an aero... space... craft... plane... he calculates for the things that go to the star-transcending corners of the universe, and you don't. Top that. Extremely available currently, and that is what this position needs. --DTN   20:49, 17 February 2011 (EST)

  1. Neumannz has been consistently dedicated to the wiki, and always produces quality edits. Furthermore, he is unfailingly polite and intelligent, and has even been leading the syncing and audit during this week, when I've been flaky. 5. Another amazing editor, with a powerful work ethic and dedication to back it up. The guy knows his way around a joke and a punch-line, but he balances it with his work and position well as it. Like Kryten, he is very available currently, which we need in a bureaucrat.—Preceding unsigned comment added by DoorToNothing (talkcontribs)

  1. NinjaShiek - she's been here almost the longest of any of us, and why she isn't an administrator already I'll never understand. Something I noticed - with DTN, me, and Neumannz all nominated for bcrat, the deliberation would be down TNE, Ultima, and the four mods (minus if TNE or Ultima also gets nominated). So you six should probably try and figure out the best time on Tuesday for you guys to make the decision.

Freeze for one moment. Why am I in under the "Administrator" section? Not that I'm flattered and all, but on the old KH-Wiki, I was nominated for mod, not admin. I'm a little confused. Can someone tell me why? Was it a mistake or something? If it is, could I move my name down with Lapis-kun and the others? 'Cause I'm pretty sure I was nominated for mod, not admin.

I suppose the rationale was to give the retributive functions to someone who'd use them — and during my time as mod I knew that you were one of the most vocal against vandals from the start, and other people noticed it too. ^_-

Well, that's nice and all, but back on the old wiki, there was a lot of disagreements about whether I should become a mod or not. I do, after all, have "anger issues". Therefore, I hardly thought anyone was going vote for me, well, maybe Dark Master since he was my friend, but still. I don't remember there being a discussion about me being nominated for a admin. Or was this something KrytenKoro decided himself? It was nice of him, but doesn't the other admins have a say in this, to make it fair?

They should, and I believe it should be a matter of time before the rest of us decide.

Uh, well...Okay, I guess, but is this really okay? I mean, I'm not very "likable", if you know what I mean.

I know you're trying to be realistic about your situation, but that's already a strength in itself. Don't be afraid to jump the hurdle if and when it comes.

Ninja: The short answer is that it's because I nominated you, and I'm allowed to nominate whoever I want. Just like anyone else can be nominated for the open admin seat.

This is what I've learned about NinjaSheik just from this conversation:
  • She cares about consistency and making sure what people say is what they actually do.
  • She is "one of the most vocal against vandals", and has been reverting vandalism for a long time.
  • She knows that she has flaws and takes this into account whenever making a decision, as compared to people who do bad things without realizing.
  • She is very realistic, caring more about what can be done than what she wants to be done.
  • She is a good enough editor to be nominated for administrative privlages.

The point is, Ninja, you're more fit to be an administrator than you may think. And you already have four votes, compared to the one vote you expected. People think you can be an admin, so... show 'em how it's done!

Thanks, guys, but still...Admins are practically the one who rules the wiki. And with that said, I repsect that you think I'm fit in for the position, but as admins, it is your job to run the wiki and see it is run smoothly. Not only that, they have the abilities to promote other users to mod or admins, like themselves. However, the process of actually promoting a user up a rank takes time, and not only that the user who is nomiated must have the nescessary...requirements to be promoted. I think the admins is like...the chairman board, like in a school, who dicuss things before they announce their decisions, which lead me to believe that other admins might disagree about your decision on me. I know this just "nominating" right now, but when you think about it, even nominating someone, who may or may not meet the requirements, could lead to a lot of problems.

Oh, and more thing, I'm not the type that "jumps the hurdle". I am a introvert, who leared that staying in the background is a lot more safe then flying into something reckless. Plus, I am kinda inscure, just a little bit.
