KHWiki:Project Enemy/SYNTHESIS

We need someone to go through and combine the "Locations", "Journal", and "See Also" sections with the new infoboxes.

Discussion

To be filled in - explanation of how template differs, now.

Is it okay if I start with the enemies that only appear in KH2? - LevL 14:10, May 19, 2010 (UTC)

You can work on whichever ones you want, as long as we keep track of progress. I guess I should go back and list which ones I've done.Glorious CHAOS! 16:01, May 19, 2010 (UTC)

For Days, the journal entries are explicitly enemy profiles, so Character Bosses will have their Days journal on their boss page. However, what do we want to do about characters like Riku, for the other games? Do we want to match the journal entries to the enemy form, do we want to place them all on the first infobox form, or do we want to leave the entries on the character page?Glorious CHAOS! 01:32, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

Should the Shadow Sora, AntiSora, Sora's Heartless variations be combined with Roxas (Boss), Xion (Boss), Ventus (Boss), Vanitas (Boss)? Technically, Shadow Sora and AntiSora are the same shape as Sora's Heartless, while Sora's Heartless is a piece of Sora like the other bosses.Glorious CHAOS! 17:40, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
Personally, I don't think so. Enemy Variations doesn't have the exact same function as See Also. If it did, for example, Neoshadow would be listed as a variation of Shadow, I think. If the enemies are not really similar, they shouldn't be listed as variations. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 18:09, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
I don't think that would be a good idea. Those characters are treated as different characters in the games. Also, the page would be very large if we want to put all the strategies and videos on it.
EDIT: Sorry, I thought you meant something else. I agree with Neumannz. - LevL 18:08, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
So Shadow Sora, AntiSora, and Sora's Heartless are treated as variations (Heartless in Sora's form), but Vanitas, Ventus, Roxas, Xion, Sora's Heartless are not, and aren't even considered variations of each other?Glorious CHAOS! 18:53, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
What about Replica Data, Absent Silhouette, and Anti- forms? Do those get treated as variations of their origin, or each other?Glorious CHAOS! 18:54, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
Their origins. But are there separate articles for Absent Silhouette and Replica Data versions? --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 19:20, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
I was thinking of putting their infoboxes on the Replica Data and Absent Silhouette pages, since they are not entirely appropriate for the regular boss pages.
Okay, so:
  • Shadow Sora, AntiSora, Sora's Heartless
  • Riku, Anti-Riku, Ansem SoD
  • Ventus, Vanitas
  • Xemnas, Xemnas's Replica Data
  • Xigbar, Xigbar's Replica Data
  • Xaldin, Xaldin's Replica Data
  • Vexen, Vexen's Absent Silhouette, Vexen's Replica Data
  • Lexaeus, Lexaeus's Absent Silhouette, Lexaeus's Replica Data
  • Zexion, Zexion's Absent Silhouette, Zexion's Replica Data
  • Saix, Anti-Saix, Saix's Replica Data
  • Axel, Axel's Replica Data
  • Demyx, Demyx's Replica Data
  • Luxord, Luxord's Replica Data
  • Marluxia, Marluxia's Absent Silhouette, Marluxia's Replica Data
  • Larxene, Larxene's Absent Silhouette, Larxen's Replica Data
  • Roxas, Roxas's Replica Data, Shadow Roxas
  • Xion
I like this variation list better. You are right, when you say that gameplay wise Vanitas, Ventus, Roxas and Xion are variations of Sora (or his heartless\shadows), but story wise they are all very different variations which would make the list more confusing than helpful. Although that's true for the absent silhouettes and replica datas too, the difference in personalty, fighting style and abilities is much smaller --ShardofTruth 20:57, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
The point is to compare the boss battles, and not the characters themselves. This is a pretty good list for that. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 21:10, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
Should Ansem SoD and Xemnas be combined, since they are virtually the same thing (appearance and being)? So, the list would be:
  • Riku, Ansem SoD, World of Chaos, Xemnas, Riku Replica, Xemnas's Replica Data, Anti-Riku
And do we want to add Xehanort, Master Xehanort, possibly Terra?
Or simplify it to:
  • Riku, Riku Replica, Anti-Riku
  • Master Xehanort, Terra, Xehanort, Ansem SoD, World of Chaos, Xemnas, Xemnas Data
Good grief, this is a confusing situation.
I'm reluctant to say yes, since as far as the battles go, the "Xehanort family members" are very different enemies...
Maybe Terra and Xehanort, and maybe Ansem SoD and WoC--since the latter is the final form of the former--and Xemnas and Xemnas Data. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 17:16, May 23, 2010 (UTC)
But definitely Riku, Riku Replica, and Anti-Riku. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 17:17, May 23, 2010 (UTC)
The Xehanort and Ansem pairs both use the Guardian, though, and look very similar. And then Xemnas looks very similar as well.
I don't think it works as battle similarity, though, since very few subspecies are fought the same way, anyway. It's very annoying.Glorious CHAOS! 20:43, May 23, 2010 (UTC)
And for that matter, one of the Riku boss fights is a clone of Ansem (the Land of Dragons one).Glorious CHAOS! 20:49, May 23, 2010 (UTC)
I think the vast majority of subspecies have the same fighting style. Probably the most different ones are the "small floating Heartless" family, but they are clearly variations of each other, and they aren't really that different (i.e. they release a magic attack and/or headbutt). I think what we count as variations should depend on how similar they are as enemies.
Having said that, you make a good point about Xehanort and Ansem. The final battle with Xehanort is definitely similar to the ones with Ansem.
I think variations for the "character" bosses need to be treated more carefully that with regular enemies, since we're dealing with individuals rather than with subspecies. I don't know, maybe you're right about including Xemnas with Ansem. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 21:20, May 23, 2010 (UTC)

Here's one: do we list Gargoyle Knight and Gargoyle Warrior as variations of the Possessor & Massive Possessor, or are those better off staying as See Alsos? --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 00:28, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

Well, those explicitly are subspecies. Its explicitly a Possessor possessing something, just like with the Thresholder.
I suppose if you want, you could mark it as subspecies of Thresholder.Glorious CHAOS! 02:51, May 24, 2010 (UTC)
