I am sick of cleaning up after the RTE. In order to get it disabled, we need to show wikia that we've had a discussion and agreed on it, so here goes:

The thing mucks up the coding, even for extremely simple templates like Template:Game or Template:Nihongo. If inserts space and blank lines throughout the page, and in general, no one uses it to do more than type, so there's no reason they can't use the regular editor.

LapisScarab - You accept darkness, yet choose to live in the light. So why is it that you loathe us who teeter on the edge of nothing? We who were turned away by both light and dark - never given a choice?
TALK - That may be... however, what other choice might we have had?

I've never used it. Didn't even know it existed until I started seeing people asking it to be turned off. More power to you.

Amen to that! About time the bloody thing was turned off. I can't tell how many edits I've had to fix due to it; same thing for telling new users! Thank you!

I'm all for getting rid of the damn thing, but keep in mind we'd have a lot more errors as inexperienced users and even IP's attempted to use the regular coding method...

So the Rich Text Editor is what continues to add all of those extra spaces and lines between sections and templates of an article. Definitely be gone with it. Also, ENX, that's why Wikia provides the "Editing Tips" box to the right of the editing window, as well as several help pages for wiki-markup. I definitely don't think that will be a problem at all.

I've edited on the FF wiki before and I don' think they have the RTE, why is it that we have it? It messes up tons of articles and I (being a perfectionist somewhat) can't STAND it!

The first time that thing popped up, I said, "What's this? I want to do things by good, ol' fashioned wiki code! How do I change this? In my day, computers were the size of refrigerators, and if you wanted a faster processing speed, you had to buy two hamsters!"

I agree completely. This thing made trying to make my user page a nightmare. I've never had that many problems trying to do something like that before.

Okay guys, it is still inserting blank lines when there shouldn't be any. This was one of our main concerns with the RTE, so is everyone fine with me requesting (a THIRD time) for it to be turned off?

This reminds me of when Wikia was also slow to remove the blogs. Wikia sure can be touchy about their new features. Yes, please get rid of the Rich Text Editor. This version still presents the same issues that the last one did.

Yes! Get rid of the stupid thing.

Most new people who log in end up using the RTE and don't know how to take it off. I think the best thing for us to do is to get all new users (whoever we tend to) to stop using the RTE - I'm sure we all know how to turn it off. If people risk messing up with templates, we make them as foolproof as possible (like what Kryten's been doing to the Reflist and a whole lot of other things).

You make a good point. I'll add that to the New Members Guide. Perhaps it will help some.

ETA: Made a quick little tutorial here and added a note to the guide. Please let me know if it doesn't display well on your monitor so I can tinker with the formatting if needed.

I fully agree. I had it on when I got IE8, and it was okay. All of a sudden, I go to edit a page, and all I see is: jfasdhgasdhadf6g9as6f9847723423654353453#$%#$%^#^#5345432561346534^#$%^%$@%^#$^@&%3^#45. So, ultimately, shut the thing off. This time, let's make it permanent!

		Well, I don't see it under Preferences. I also logged out and tried editing, and I still didn't see it, so... looks like it's gone!

Yep, it's official, guys : I checked the Preferences and here's what they did :

They disabled the tabs in the Preferences bit.
There is no Rich Text Editing, so that means our Help Guide to turn off the RTE might need to be updated or even removed.

And I don't know why they disabled tabs, but guys, it's official :

Is it just us, or are other wikis RTE free now?

I believe it's either just us, or it's just the English wikis. I checked my other active wiki, KHFR, and KHFR still has the RTE option. Not to mention the nbsp marks I have to correct without fail.... -____-

I don't see the option on my Zelda Wiki account, so it might just be the English Wikis. EDIT: The Bleach Wiki still has it though. Curious.

Bleach Wiki still has the RTE, and KHW and Zelda don't have it ? I doubt TSW has it either, though I could be wrong.

The side of the Francophones always gets changes later than the English versions (we don't even have WikiStickies), so I'm not surprised.
