about the battle system. I personally like the colory one I created (and then it is based on turns)...
as for damage, I posted up a blog on that but Tipero locked it down before anyone could see or comment.
I'll give you the post here:
Normal Attack : 1-5 dmg (higher STR = more chances of dealing more dmg. every 10th STR lvl = +1 minimum/maximum dmg.)
Enchanted attack : 2-10 dmg (this is calculated by doing minimum/maximum normal dmg. x2. higher STR = more chances of dealing more dmg. every 20th MAG lvl = x3 instead of x2 and so on..)
Limit break : There are two kinds of limit breaks (one enemy and many enemies).
One enemy : "very" high dmg. (from 30-40)
many enemies : high dmg. (from 20-30)
Magic:
Fire : 10 dmg (fire resistance = -2, -5)
Blizzard : 10 dmg (ice resistance = -2, -5)
Thunder : 15 dmg (thunder resistance = -5, -10)
Cure : cure = heal 20 HP, cura = heal 30 HP, curaga = heal 40 HP, curaja = heal 50 HP
Gravity : 15 dmg (dark resistance = -5, -10)
Reflect : reflect = can nullify 10 dmg, when upgraded 20 dmg, then 30 dmg
So I think that this is the basic of what I have in mind...
oh, and I was also thinking that battles with weak creatures (shadows or creepers and such) can be skipped.
