Cross-slash (凶斬り Kyougiri?, lit. "Misfortune Slash") is a technique that appears in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. It allows the user to assault the enemy with a three-hit combo. It is a signature ability of Cloud.

Cross-slash+ (凶斬り・改 Kyougiri Kai?, lit. "Misfortune Slash Revision") is a variation that allows the user to warp next to an enemy before continuing with Cross-slash.

Mechanics

In Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Cross-slash is a Summon Sleight. Using Cross-slash summons Cloud to the battlefield, whereupon he executes a three-hit combo. The card combination for Cross-slash is:

Origin

Cross Slash is a recurring attack in the Final Fantasy series, debuting as one of Cloud Strife's initial Limit Breaks in Final Fantasy VII. It is often a prominent ability in his moveset, making appearances in most games in which he appears. Its appearances beyond the first game are derived from Cloud's first three attack patterns when he attacks an enemy with a mastered Double Cut Materia, with Cloud tracing the kanji for "Misfortune" ( Kyou?).
