Japanese Wikipedia makes an distinction between ミニット and ミニッツ. Interobangu 05:03, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, I replied on your talk page instead of here. Copying over:

In my normal dictionary, I only found this for ミニッツ

ミニッツステーキ (n) minute steak

As such it appears to be an odd but not impossible version of what is done with other -u syllables. As its timer is noticeably shorter than a minute, I think this means the name actually refers to its tiny size. As such, I went ahead and reverted it to Minute, but if my dictionary is just missing uses of minittsu, I'd be happy to change it back.

EDIT: I did find "Mini-Z" and "Minute Maid". Glorious CHAOS! 05:07, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I have also found:

So it is clearly used as "Minutes" as well. So, I guess the decision here is whether it is used to refer to its size or its detonation. It would be reasonable for it to refer to either (well, as reasonable as any of these type of names are), and this fansite claims it refers to the detonation length. Would the ultimania possibly have a "name explanation" section? If not, wikipedia and the fansite definitely have the numbers advantage.Glorious CHAOS! 05:21, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

I'm going to say there's a precedent for this kind of thing ("Pirates" is "パイレーツ," "fruit" is "フルーツ").—Urutapu 08:18, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
