Story

Kingdom Hearts Dark Road

Prior to Xehanort’s arrival at Scala ad Caelum, Vidar trained there under Master Odin and became good friends with Hoder. On a group mission to the Enchanted Dominion, Hoder is separated from the rest of the upperclassmen. While looking for her, Vidar suggests that they split the party, and as a result, many of the upperclassmen are slain in a trap set by the true darkness, including Hoder. Episode 7: Reason for Disappearance

After Vidar learned of Hoder’s death, he immediately sought out revenge. Vidar discovers that the true darkness has taken Baldr as a vessel, and that the only way to destroy it is to sacrifice Baldr. Vidar is unable to harm him, knowing that Hoder cared deeply for her brother and it would be against her wishes. Instead, Vidar sought out another way to destroy the threat, and constructed a plan to summon Kingdom Hearts. Against Master Odin's orders, he enlists his fellow classmates to help him and begins to collect seven lights.

Despite initially being willing to risk everything by summoning Kingdom Hearts, Vidar halts his plans when he sees that Baldr has been completely taken over by the darkness. Vidar expresses remorse, feeling responsible for Hoder’s death, Baldr’s grief, and now, the deaths of his classmates at the darkness's hand. He and his friends decide to put an end to the true darkness by taking Baldr’s life, but are slain by a heartless summoned by Baldr. As Vidar is lying down, light fading, Xehanort kneels beside him. With his final words, Vidar apologizes and passes on his mission to Xehanort. His body perishes, heart floating away.

Design

Vidar is a dark-skinned man with hazel eyes and brown hair. Like his classmates, there is a traditional Japanese influence in his style of dress. The blue coat evokes the style of a samurai's kamishimo, with sleeves that are curved out and over the shoulders. Around his waist is a black obi, with a yellow sash wrapped over it and tied off at the side. There is a silver chain at his waist with a charm, the emblem he shares with his classmates.

Víðarr is a deity in Norse mythology, known for seeking vengeance for his father's death.

Abilities

Like his classmates, Vidar wields the Keyblade.
