Despite portraying a fictional universe consisting of planet-like Worlds that each represent a separate setting based on Disney or Kingdom Hearts-original fiction, the Kingdom Hearts series includes many references to real-world locations on Earth.
List of locations
Caribbean Sea
In Kingdom Hearts II, Port Royal, based on Port Royal, in Jamaica, is a main setting within Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
In Kingdom Hearts III, The Caribbean is an expansion to Port Royal, appending the sea and isles surrounding the port.
China
China is a country in East Asia, and is the setting for the movie Mulan. The film takes place in Ancient China.
In the Kingdom Hearts series, the Land of Dragons is the homeworld of Mulan and others.[1]
London
London is the capital of England and the United Kingdom, an island country in western Europe. It is one of the settings for the movie Peter Pan.
In the Kingdom Hearts series, London is the home of Wendy. This is where the Clock Tower, also known as Big Ben, is located.[2]
France
- "You've come to Paris in her darkest hour, Captain. It will take a firm hand to save the weak-minded from being so easily misled."
- —Frollo to Phoebus

Shibuya
Shibuya (渋谷区 Shibuya-ku , lit. "Shibuya Ward") is a part of central Tokyo, Japan, famous for its fashion and nightlife, and is the setting of the game The World Ends With You.
In Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, Shibuya (シブヤ ) is the hometown of Neku, Shiki, Beat, Rhyme, and Joshua.[3]
In Kingdom Hearts III, Shibuya (シブヤ Shibuya ) is also the main setting of Verum Rex and the home of Yozora, though this is not necessarily the same Shibuya that Neku and his friends hail from.[4] This is the world that Sora, Riku, and the Master of Masters arrive in during the game's secret ending.[5] It features locations inspired by Shibuya and neighboring Shinjuku (新宿区 Shinjuku-ku , lit. "Shinjuku Ward"), including the famous 109 department store and Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.
Africa
Africa is a continent south of Europe, and is the setting for the movie Tarzan.
In Kingdom Hearts, Sora and company land in the jungles of Africa, the homeworld of Clayton, Jane, Tarzan, and the Gorillas. Template:Section-stub
Notes and references
- ^ Kingdom Hearts II, The Emperor: "Take this, so the world will know what it is you have done for China."
- ^ Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, Wendy: "Listen, Peter. I've got something to tell you... I want to go home to London."
- ^ Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, Neku: "Definitely. See you in Shibuya."
- ^ Kingdom Hearts III Ultimania, Interviewer: "Is Sora in the world of The World Ends With You (a game Nomura previously directed)?" / Tetsuya Nomura: "It does look like it. But there's more meaning in the fact that it is not Shibuya (渋谷), but Shibuya (シブヤ). Also, Sora promised Neku and the others in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance that he would meet them in Shibuya (シブヤ), but that doesn't mean it's directly connected to this movie." - ^ Kingdom Hearts III Ultimania, Interviewer: "So that means that's the world of VERUM REX?" / Tetsuya Nomura: "Yes, that's right. [...]" / Interviewer: "Who was the person in the black robe who made a heart with their hands against the moon in the final scene?" / Tetsuya Nomura: "The Master of Masters. Nobody else would be messing around while dressed like that (laughs)." Translation via Goldpanner.
