It's my birthday on the fifth, and I have only one request, as your friend.
The 358/2 Days guidebook was just released. It has all the stats on the weapons and enemies, as well as the finalized translations (They did stick with the French for Larxene and German for Vexen, but abandoned the poetry for Lexaeus, and Chinese for Xaldin, fyi. Also, no Pinocchio).
I beg of you, please leave the weapon and enemy articles alone, and let me update them. It's something I've been wanting to do really bad, and the only reason I can't do it now is 1) exams tomorrow and Friday, and 2) my sister promised to get me the guide for my birthday.
I promise I will have the article update done by the 11th, if not the 4th, and I will make them beautiful for you. I'll even finish up the card articles for you, too.
Just give me this one thing.

Eh, I'm on the fence with this one Kryten... I guess I could try to resist myself. Well, unless if many Users disagree. Anyway, I know how it feels for a birthday, seeing as I was stuck in a hotel room for mine this year. Just so you know, though, I've got a copy of the guide on reserve, and I do plan on using it to rack up the edit count make many contributions! So feel free to ping me if you run short on time.

As much as I've been wanting to do that myself, I'll leave them alone, but when BbS comes out, I want to play a big roll in updating everything.
Anyhow, I'd like to know if the guide has 3D renders for all of the enemies.

The guide has 3D renders of every enemy, and names the ??? which were left unnamed in the Japanese game - one of them is the "Leechgrave's Tentaclaw", and the other two are "Unknown" (like in FM), appearing to be Xion on the run from the Organization.
I pretty much just want to get to do the stat-boxes and name-moving - it's really important that as we add the translated names, we move the old articles, so we don't artificially inflate the weapon and enemy lists. "Artful Flyer", for example, which is redundant to the Flying Arts, I think.
For anyone who's interested, they abandoned a lot of the prior translations, and missed quite a few of the puns. The Master-Butler-Arts line was reinterpreted as fighting names rather than as the university degree pun-names, and most of the Heartless which have appeared before were renamed - Surveillance Robot is Watcher, Mega Shadow is Mega-Shadow, etc. We're going to have to figure out how to deal with this, because, well, the dubbers weren't paying enough attention for this game, or did not look over the previous games first.

I suggest that we stick with the KHII names and just use redirects from the new names.
And Kryten, I've been thinking about how I said I wouldn't touch them, but I have to admit that I'm just a bit disappointed. I think I enjoy editing just as much as you do, and I've really been looking forward to working on everything when I got my guide. That was going to be half of the fun for me when Days came out. If you just want to move the pages and work on the stats, that's fine, but I at least would like to be able to do something.
Couldn't I help write descriptions or write the journal entries when the game comes out?

Do you have a scanner, DTN? One of us could upload images, though I'm not sure if my scanner would scan them at a good enough quality.
But yeah, I understand why you want to do it all yourself, Kryten, but imagine yourself in our position. I think you'd be upset if I just wanted to update everything only because it's my birthday. Like I said before, I'm fine if you just want to do stats or something, but there's got to be some way to divide the work. I enjoy having help anyhow. Don't be the Riku in our little editing clique, we can do it together.

Why yes, I have a scanner. I just... err... haven't ever used it. :P I know how to though, so I can still upload scans of enemy renders. I also am not sure of the quality that my scanner produces, either.
Yea, there's lots of work to do. Enemy stats, images, weapons, journal entries, Gears, mission mode, story missions... (the list goes on)

Yep, lots to do. I think I'd like to do journal entries more than anything though to be honest. Then again, that wouldn't involve my guide book, and I want it to be useful somehow.

Kind of thought the whole point of a wiki was to have lots of people working towards a common goal, Kryten... ^_-
No, no, I'm teasing you. I'll probably end up tampering some more with the world articles once I get hold of the game; that seems to have become my specialty around here...

Doing the journal entries and stuff like that is fine. The reason I want to work specifically on the Enemy stats and weapon stats is
- I have to design a new enemy template, and tweak the weapon template.
- It's better to have one person doing the translation moves, to make sure there aren't redundancies.
Every other kind of thing, like strategy, journal entries, images, locations, accessories, etc., I'm not asking for. Just the two that I'm going to have to end up doing over anyway, and if I do them now before moves start happening, it's a lot easier to keep everything in order and prevent the huge pile-up mess that would happen if half the stuff is moved, half isn't, the Heartless list contains both the Japanese and dubbed names, etc.
By the way GS, the journal entries are in the guide already, you don't have to get the game first.
