I have a problem with the article saying that Xenanort's heartless didn't posses a keychain while possesing Riku...because a heartless is nothing but a heart, right? It's the nobodies who have no heart, heartless have no boddy, not no heart. It's the heart that turns to darkness, giving it the black form, am I right? I belive that "heartless" is a misnomer. So anyway, I just want to say that I think the part about the keychain being the "heart" should be removed.

Keychain Theory

I have a theory: "Keyblade Masters" have keychains on their keyblades, non-masters do not. If a person was born to be destined as a Keyblade Master (like Sora, and consequently Roxas and Xion, and Riku) or trained for the part (like King Mickey, Master Xehanort, his apprentice and Master Erauqs), then their Keyblade will have keychains. If being a Keyblade Master involves intense training and yet people like Sora, Kairi and Riku can have keychains, then it would reaffirm their relationship with Ven, Aqua and Terra. Maybe they possess a portion of the previous wielders' Hearts? Kairi's Heart was able to seek refuge in Sora's body, so what's stopping another Heart from taking refuge in another body? If two Hearts can merge if they spend too much time with each other, wouldn't it explain why Roxas looks like Ven? Sora's body was split into two, Roxas and Namine, and each "half" took on the form (more or less) of one of the other Hearts in Sora's body: Ven with Roxas and Namine with Kairi. If that is true, how come the Lingering Will's Ends of the Earth doesn't have a keychain? Terra was being trained to be a Keyblade Master. TobiasHawk (talk) 15:13, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

Given keychains

It says that only the Fenrir is actually given to Sora, which isn't true, the Pumpkinhead is as well

Sign your posts, anon. He's right though. I recall Crabclaw being given to Sora as well.HarpieSiren 11:28, September 4, 2010 (UTC)

I'm kinda late in this response but I agree. In fact, many Keychains in KH1 were 'given' to Sora. I don't remember much, but I do remember the Three Wishes Keyblade being given to him by Aladdin. Heartless Emblem.png If you can't imitate him, don't copy him Heartless Emblem.png

Key chain

Should the name of this article be key chain since that's what KH call it?

Edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUQFJqyab7c&feature=related here is a video showing it around 3:11--Xabryn 21:09, October 3, 2010 (UTC)

KH2 called it a "keychain". --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 19:01, October 7, 2010 (UTC)

Look at the section named: Given keychains from this article, there Three Wishes, Crabclaw and Pumpkinhead(not sure about this one though) are mentioned and also Oathkeeper--Xabryn 00:37, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

Noted. I still feel that sentence could be worded better though. Feel free to critique my edit. --JFH_Sig_zpsfaa1e7d5.jpg 00:42, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

You're right it could be worded better but I'm not a good writer so maybe if you could do it--Xabryn 00:46, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

Upgradeable Keyblades

Based on how we did Days and Re:coded, I simplified the Keyblades and Keychains for KHX down to their highest forms. If I've not misunderstood how the Keyblades work, the protagonist only has one version of each Keychain, instead of having every growth stage available to them all at once, as in Days and Re:coded. I chose the highest form of each Keyblade based on (1) they look nicer, and (2) we organize Keyblade wielders and their Keyblades by their "present" status (Master, etc.), so it seemed appropriate to do the same with Keyblades. I understand the desire to portray all the Keychain images, especially in a grid that can help the reader compare trends in how each Keychain "grows", but I also feel it is less overwhelming to use the Category and individual Keyblade articles for that.

Are there objections to my proposal? If it's an issue of clarifying the exact stage of upgrade, does anyone desire that for X, Days, and Re:coded, we use the fully-upgraded names, as well?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 19:14, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

Aren't the Days and Recoded Keyblades and Keychains the same between upgrades? TheSilentHero 19:41, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
Visually, yes, but they have different stats and are created by separate gears, technically. The closest Days has to a "single keychain, upgraded" is Roxas's Kingdom Key+, Two Become One, Oathkeeper/Oblivion progression, which we don't treat as a single entity in the galleries. As far as I'm aware, it's roughly analagous to KHX in that it's a separate "item" in the game's mind, but is an upgrade of the original Keyblade in a narrative sense."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 21:05, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
They are visually the same, so it would be a waste of space to put three Kingdom Keys in the gallery. But the KHx Keyblade upgrades differ in designs. I think we should either list all the different keychains or none at all. TheSilentHero 06:50, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
I get that they differ in design, but what I'm saying is that listing them all here makes it look like the player has 25 Keychains, when they have 5 that grow. By contrast, Roxas technically does have more separate Keychains than we're showing, and we omit them for brevity. I feel like the Keychain category does the job we're trying to do here (although I kinda feel the default form Keychains should be renamed "Upgrade 0", since they represent levels 01-09)."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 13:18, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
I know the category already lists them, but so do the other games' categories. The question is whether this is a list of the Keychains the playable characters have at the end of the game, or a list of all different-looking keychains. I think we should wait for other people's opinions before making a decision.
"Upgrade 0" sounds weird to me, since it's not an upgrade. But maybe we could name them "Base" or something. TheSilentHero 16:32, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
