TALK -
Here's some things I could really use some help on, and I've been unable to get it so far, so I wanted to just put out a list and see if I could get any takers.
  • Improving the infoboxes: The infobox coding needs to be cleaned up to make it easier for new editors to use, and should include all relevant information - the Boss template includes weaknesses, for example, and so perhaps the Heartless and Nobody templates should as well. Also, there should be inherent functionality such as automatic categories to make sorting the articles easier. It would be quite nice if a discussion on this could be started, or if people could look at the draft using tabs that I placed on wikimon. Personally, I'd really like it if other editors could work with me and tell me what wasn't working with my coding instead of erasing all my work without giving me any kind of explanation on what needed fixing.
  • Grouping Heartless: In a VFD a while back, it was decided to group same-type Heartless in one page like the Digimon Wiki does. Is this still the decision?
  • Card game: We need articles on the card game. I have most of the card scans, but I don't know what the exact terms are for the card game, and don't want to go through the work (requesting a Card: namespace, for example) needed if it will all need to be redone when I get the official terms. If anyone has ever bought KH cards and has a manual, I could really use your help.
  • Translation and Nihongo: Heartless, Nobodies, and weapons need to have the Japanese version of their names. In most cases, I have access to the kana, and can translate it, but it would help if there was someone who could work with me, so we could check each other's work. Also, There are quite a few objects (such as Final Mix Journal entries or Final Mix weapon descriptions), that I can't find on the Internet so far.
  • Music and merch: We need to start having articles on the music and merch of the KH series - at least, the official music and merch. The music can be done like this or this and work well. The merch can be done as it is here, I think.
  • Category for Deletion: Honestly, the admins need to be monitoring this better. We have too much crap articles, like the Metallica videos uploaded a few weeks ago, that are marked for deletion and then never touched.
  • Enemy Cards: there is now an infobox for enemy cards that can be added to every CoM Heartless' page. Here.
  • Category Redundancy: Many infoboxes or templates could inherently code to place pages they are used on in appropriate categories, and many pages are either missing all appropriate categories, or in some cases have the categories coded in twice. I'd like to add the coding to the templates to allow auto-categorizing, and I could use help cleaning up redundant categories throughout the wiki.
  • Weapons and Equipment: Kingdom Key and Ultima Weapon are about the only good equipment articles we have on this wiki. We need to have a push to add the infoboxes to the various pages, add in the appearance and stats sections to most pages. We should also be adding the navigation boxes seen at the bottom of Kingdom Key to most equipment articles to allow ease of access.

Again, it would be incredibly helpful if anyone would like to work with me on these, because right now I'm pretty much stuck on most of these, either having my work reverted, or lacking access to the information I need to fill the articles.

Ok, here goes:

Infoboxes: It's really hard to create an infobox that holds all stats and looks good. I'm not that good with coding and stuff, so I don't think I can help here.

Grouping Heartless: I was not aware of this.....

TCG: I'm not really familiar with it, but with some research, I think I can help inputting card info and things like that. But, we should have this on one page and not separate pages like: "Character X (Card)"

Japanese/Kana: Myself, along with Yuan could help with the Japanese. I added most if not all the Japanese and Kana to the FFIX enemies, most to the FFIV enemies and around half to the FFVII enemies.

Music: One of my last projects before coming back to the KHWiki was music. Here are some examples:[1] [2]. We could do something like this or like what the Digimon Wiki has.

Merchandise: Yes, that seems fine.

CatferDeletion: I don't really monitor, but now that you have brought it to my attention, I will.

CoM Images: I see what you were talking about with the CoM card images. We do need to have a standard. So Yuan was going to help and go through them and add VFD and re-upload them under the name that the template uses.

Redundant Cats: That is one of the things that I've been doing on this wiki. Cleaning up Categories. I stopped, but will resume this project on the weekend when I can dedicate time to contribute.

Weapons and Equipment: I know that the W&E pages are pretty crappy and I wish I could do something but I don't really have a reliable source of information for this.

For the cards, there's about 300~, and an infobox containing all the info would take up about half a screen. The way we have it now, where it is organized by character, would actually work quite well - that way, we could link to the character's card article from his regular article. Most characters or worlds have at least 2 cards, if not up to 10, so there shouldn't be a problem with stubbination. For an example of what a completed card page would look like (for a Digimon character), check out this page.

Infoboxes: Well, do we want to have the weaknesses on either the boss, Heartless, Nobody, etc. infoboxes? Are weaknesses ever really that useful? I mean, in the KH games they're honestly not even worth paying attention to - if we do need them, how about creating a separate "Battle" infobox for putting into Strategy sections, that would include all of the Atk, Def, etc. info that we can obtain from the Bradygames and Ultimania guides? It's a lot of info, but mostly trivial, so at best it would bloat up the lead infobox, and as a separate infobox we could even code it to work graphically - if anyone's ever seen Transformers Tech Specs, its possible to code it like that. Or some other way - basically, do battle stats even belong in infoboxes? Its completely possible to fit the info into the lead paragraph or strategy section.

Cards: I have nearly all of the card scans, and most of the ones I'm missing are just holofoil versions of ones I have. Honestly, the only thing stopping me from proceeding with this is the lack of a manual to use for setting up the template, and then I can whip up a draft page to show you guys, and we can request a "Card:" namespace and start with the project.

Weapons: The biggest problem with the Weapons pages is lack of good images, and lack of descriptions for Final Mix equipment. I have all English descriptions and stats on my talk page, so we have those, and then we just need people to professionally describe the appearance and symbolism of the various weapons.

Keyblade-Blk.png Infoboxes: This is something I really want improved, because I've been planning on fixing up every Heartless article, but I've just been too busy trying to find all of the enemy renders right now. You're right about what needs to get cleaned up, I did revert the edits back to your template, so you can work from there. I think that the best template to model these ones off of would be the Boss template, because I love how it also display the weaknesses. I also feel that maybe we should get a more attractive color scheme for the Heartless boxes. One thing I think you should consider is putting the item drops of enemies somewhere on their pages instead of inside of the info box. It would help make things less crowded.

Grouping Heartless: Eh, I'm not so sure about this. There aren't as many Heartless as there are Digimon, and a lot of information needs to be covered for a lot of the Heartless. Either way, I pretty much like it how it is, but that's my personal opinion. I think we should just work on improving each Heartless page by adding more information, as well as galleries for every piece of art and every variant of each Heartless.

Translations: I'm not so good with this, but I'll try to help you find some clearer entries to translate. There was one good video I saw with some of the Final Mix Heartless from KHII.

Music and Merch: Agreed.

Category for Deletion: Yeah, I definitely see what you mean. I wish I had the ability to delete articles a lot of the time, I see some things put up for deletion that take quite some time to get noticed, so hopefully it gets monitored a lot better.

Weapons: I'd love to help with that, and I see what you mean. I see a lot of things missing from those articles.

I think the main thing that we need to work on right now though is the enemy articles. You know, 358/2 Days is going to be out soon, and there's going to be alot of new enemies to work with. It would probably be best to get the older enemies out of the way right now. The new Heartless template should be the most important thing right now in my eyes.

I actually like the idea of making a separate "Battle" box that could go in the strategies section. So we don't have to have different game sections for enemies that appear in different games. Maybe we can have an improved version of this and the actual Infobox could hold the rest of the stats/items/whatever.

@GS: Yes, once we find out the stats available for the 358/2 enemies, we should get to working on the template for them.

Keyblade-Blk.png I'm fine with the idea of battle boxes as well, but then, what exactly would we put in the infoboxes? I guess the Heartless type and Japanese names, any other ideas? But yeah, that sounds good. We could just make a different type of battle box for each game. I have the Chain of Memories guide so I can work on that one if nobody has it.

Okay, for the Heartless Template - do you want the various stats to still be attached? And I'm assuming you want me to reorganize it so that it has the one-row layout the original had? And did anybody see my tabbed version of the template? If we decided not to split off the stats, we could also attach the card box to that.

Okay, here's the stats each Heartless has - if we want to go ahead with the Battle Boxes (now or later), what goes where?

Keyblade-Blk.png Okay, for the battle boxes, I was thinking of having one box on top of another, and we can set them up like the information boxes in the back of the strategy guides. I think you can just leave the journal entries how they are, so exclude journal entries from the battle boxes. I'm not sure about locations, because some enemies appear almost everywhere, but if we can easily fit them in the battle box then we can do that too. I think I'll scan a box from KH and a box from CoM just to use for reference, so I'll get to that right now.

This list is for both lead and battle infoboxes - what info do we want to go where? Or do we want it in the text? If we're jigging out most of the stats to the battle box, honestly, the journal entries would fit nicely to refill the lead box.

Keyblade-Blk.png File:KH Info Reference.png

Alright so, I think we should get the battle box for KH1 done like this if possible. I guess you could put the journal entries into the main box, but I'm not sure how that would look.

Keyblade-Blk.png Well if you can do that, why not just make a template with tabs for all three games instead of using battle boxes?

If that's what we want, it could pretty much be done, except for KH2. If you have the Bradygames guide, there's like eight different stats for each enemy (as in, each attribute has eight different versions due to slight differences in strength in its appearances).

Keyblade-Blk.png Don't worry about that, we can get rid of what isn't necessary. For now, work on getting a template done with the three tabs, or at least the first two.

For the infobox, perhaps add horizontal rows like the ones under Aptitude, Base Stats and Weapon Mastery here? It's fairly simple to add cats automatically: simply add <includeonly>[[Category:Cat name]]</includeonly>. If the template stretches too long, we can make each "set" of stats collapsible.

I think Journals are best done in prose, but that's just my opinion. Cards, Nihongo and Images I'm workin (very slowly, sorry ^^;) on. I don't know what tabs are or how to code them, but I can probably cook up a template like the one I mentioned above, if anyone wants me to.

The category thing has already been implemented, but thanks. As for the stat rows - that's kind of how I tried to do it originally, and there were complaints. We're discussing the tab thing at Template:Heartless/Draft2 - maybe you could help us implement those suggestions, and then whip up a draft with the stat rows? Since we're using tabs now, we're considering adding a lot more stats.
