Mega Flare (メガフレア Mega Furea?) is a technique in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded. Once used, the caster fires a fireball that, upon impact of an enemy, creates a blinding, screen-distorting explosion that heavily damages all enemies on screen.

It should be noted that the Mega Flare in the International releases of Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep is made weaker, since the Japanese version's Mega Flare is considered to be too powerful.[citation needed]

Mechanics

In Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Mega Flare is a Sleight.

In Kingdom Hearts Re:coded, Mega Flare is a Finish Command. It is obtainable from Hollow Bastion part one where the 3 bug blox reach up and switch around and around it is in the silver stared prize blox.

In Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, Mega Flare is an Ultimate Magic Command that takes up two slots in the Command Deck, has a maximum level of 6, a normal reload time of 50 seconds, and fills the Command Gauge by 55%.

In Hollow Bastion library, in a room that, when a switch is activated, three columns of Bug Blox rise. On the top of one of the columns, there is a Rare Prize Block that contains Mega Flare. It should be noted that Mega Flare is only available in Story Mode due to the appearance of the Bug Blox columns.

Origin

Mega Flare is a recurring attack in the Final Fantasy series. It often appears as the Summon creature Bahamut's signature attack. It is depicted as an upgraded form of the Flare spell, and deals massive non-elemental damage to all enemies.
