We've had several discussions about this in the past, which can be found here, but I feel like we should make a final decision about this, because right now we're using either Unchained X or Union X in logo's and section headers and what-not, and we need to make it consistent everywhere.

I personally feel we should merge the pages and treat it as one game. Because it is the same game. As Shard said on the talk page linked above (last section), there's no clear distinction where Unchained stops and Union begins. The English version wasn't at the point in story and medal release as the Japanese version was when it was renamed. And yes, since it got renamed to Union X, there were new features added, such as the Union Cross mode and the Pet System, and more story, which is why some people call Union X the sequel to Unchained. But it's a mobile game, it keeps adding new things. The next update adds PvP, 7-star medals, and it'll get a new world later. That doesn't mean we should treat it as a different game.

Therefore, I think we should merge. Which leaves the title of the page, section headers, categories, etc. We have three options:

  1. Keep it as Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ, and mention the rename to Union X.
  2. Use Kingdom Hearts Union χ, and mention it was called Unchained X before.
  3. Use Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ / Union χ, like we do on the KHUX wiki.

Personally, I would go for option 3, because it includes both, and matches the KHUX wiki. Thoughts?

TALK -
As far as section headers in story sections go, those are supposed to illustrate the era, so I would think that Kingdom Hearts X" would be the most appropriate for those. Anywhere else (ability obtainment, items, etc.) would use the name of the game itself, as done with the final mixes.

I can agree with using both, both are equally valid names.

I'm kinda on the fence with either using #2 or #3, since KHχ has officially been rebranded as Union χ, but either way is fine. For consistency's sake, given its usage on the KHUX Wiki, #3 is probably the best choice.

Game Clear Data KHRECOM.png I also like option 3 the best, which means we also only should one game icon, maybe a combination. I have this vague notion that thee game's title will change at least one more time before its conclusion.

Y'ello.

I kinda leans more towards #2 than #3 (It's the current name of the game, and we try to use the most recent canon names for things), but for clarity's sake I guess #3 is probably best.

Absolutely we should use a single icon for them.

Eternal Flames KHD.png I'm leaning towards #2, but #3 isn't a bad option. Definitely not #1. Eternal Flames KHD.png

I agree with #2 as well, honestly the way that they've set it up, the name is more a heading for the "season" that it corresponds to, meaning that another change could be on the horizon. In term of the Japanese release, I want to say that Unchained X changed to Union Cross after the final mission in Agrabah, meaning that it was Union X from Castle of Dreams on. Regardless of the situation with the "seasons" I think that the name of the headings should correspond with the most recent name the app uses. Thereby if it changes again whenever "season 3" begins we would change the headings accordingly. However, I do think that this creates more of an issue in regard to what you would call this overarching series as a whole, because it is not the same as the original Kingdom Hearts X, so we couldn't have the same two headings, but it is not referred to as Re:Kingdom Hearts, and all we have to refer to otherwise is what Nomura referred to as Project Xtrace, signifying the movement forward with Union Cross to connect to Kingdom Hearts III. It's a dilemma, but for the time being I agree with #2. (Levi657 (talk) 20:47, 5 May 2018 (UTC))

I choose #2, for reasons that have already been mentioned. Going one step further, I believe #2 is also the right choice for the KHUX wiki. Joveus (talk) 21:20, 5 May 2018 (UTC)

I also agree with option #2, especially if we're referring to all four titles in other articles collectively as Kingdom Hearts χ. Mostly because Square Enix officially refers to it as Union χ. As long as we keep referring to it as just KHχ, the only thing that'll need to change are hard-coded references to Union χ, and likely just the main article and related subpages. Joveus, unfortunately we don't have a say in changing terminology for the khx wiki since it's run by kh13. However, we definatly could bring it up over there. Eternal Flames KHD.pngChainoffirePizza Cut KHD.png 16:46, 6 May 2018 (UTC)

I like option 2 since we go usually go by the most recent iteration of things. TheFifteenthMember 12:19, 7 May 2018 (UTC)

I see, forgive my misunderstanding. Is there a reason why there is not a detailed KHUX section of this site, on par with what the KHUX wiki seeks to achieve? More on topic, but as a perpetual lurker this is something I've been looking forward to for some time - finally the Unchained X/Union X and individual Union X pages will be merged (or one deleted, but either way it'll be cleaner). After a full year of on-again off-again discussions, when will this actually be happening this time, and who will be taking charge? Joveus (talk) 14:00, 7 May 2018 (UTC)

TheSilentHero Well... I suppose that's one possibility eliminated. — 16:37, 7 May 2018 (UTC)
Actually, kh13 doesn't run the khux wiki, the editors do (which is mostly us). It's just hosted by DChiuch, who also hosts kh13. So if we want to change the name of the page, we could. If we wanted to rename the wiki, we might be able to do that too (just not the url), but we'd have to ask the developer.

@Joveus: We are planning to increase our coverage of KHUX, but since the KHUX wiki is part of our "wikiverse", we're leaving the super detailed stuff over there. I agree with you that we usually discuss things and then forget about it for a long time, but I'll make sure that this time, things will get changed. I'll just wait a couple more days to give others more time to join the discussion.

I've started working on a draft for the combined page here. (At the time, votes were leaning more towards #3, but it seems they now lean more toward #2). One thing I added is the version history, basically all changes listed in the notices. But it's a very long list, so do we want to keep it in, move it to a subpage, remove all the less interesting stuff and keep the major additions only, or keep the major additions only AND move the full list to a subpage?

I could really use some opinions on the version history. I actually have a fifth option: keeping the major changes here, and linking to the KHUX wiki for the full list. So, the options are:
  1. Keeping the full list
  2. Move the full list to a subpage
  3. Keep only the major changes
  4. Keep only the major changes and move the full list to a subpage
  5. Keep only the major changes and link to the KHUX wiki for the full list.

Personally, I think the list is too long for the page itself, so I would go for either #2, #4, or #5. TheSilentHero 16:59, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

Would a collapsible table work better? The table alone might reduce space by removing the headers, which always take a lot of space in padding. Otherwise, I'd go with option 4. But in doing so, I'd recommend writing the major changes in paragraph form, maybe as part of the Development section. Also, I don't know if this helps, but I wrote this a couple months ago, I just never finished it. I prefer 5 because the full version history is not relevant to us and belongs more under KHUX scope. TheFifteenthMember 11:01, 11 May 2018 (UTC)

The votes are in favor of using Kingdom Hearts Union χ, so I'll start making changes. TheSilentHero 11:42, 12 May 2018 (UTC)

I have a few questions about this whole KHUX situation, if you'll indulge me;
  1. What's happening with the merge? There are still separate Unchained χ and Union χ pages with their own Galleries and Videos that are being updated independently of each other, and 2 links on the home page picture timeline leading to the same Union χ article. Which article is being retired?
  2. Should the Union χ page and template feature all the information (characters, locations, terms, etc.) that is also featured on the regular χ[chi] page? I feel that Union χ does not function the same way as a Final Mix since χ[chi] cannot be played anymore and, instead of being a re-release with some extras, Union χ has effectively supplanted and replaced χ[chi].
  3. Finally, and I know I've asked this before, but why is everybody working on a separate KHUX wiki instead of having all that information here? Would it not make more sense to have all the info in one place? Joveus (talk) 10:52, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
