Book of Prophecies

The Book of Prophecies.

The Book of Prophecies (予知書, Yochi sho) is a book that was introduced in Kingdom Hearts χ. It appears when traveling to another world and is the source of the fragments (フラグメント, furagumento), the cards in Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] or medals in Kingdom Hearts Unchained, that are handed out by the Moogle. These cards or medals allow players to use the power of the future.

Story

Kingdom Hearts χ

According to Chirithy, before its creator disappeared, he bestowed his six apprentices with new names and gave five of them a Book of Prophecies. These five followers would become the Foretellers and read the future written in the tome. One passage on the last page shocked them all:

"The fated land will be the battleground for a great war. Light will see defeat and expire, while darkness prevails evermore."

To save the world from destruction the Foretellers use the power hidden in book and hand it on to the followers of their respective union.

Kingdom Hearts Re:coded

Following their defeat, Maleficent mentions to Pete that she heard of something similar to the Datascape, the ancient Book of Prophecies. According to a legend it's said to be capable of transcribing events that have yet to take place and even conjuring them, making entire worlds filled with beings and powers of those future events. Maleficent wants to search for a connection between the book and the Datascape, even wondering, if there is also a link between the book and Jiminy's Journal.
