TALK - Kweh!
This page is pointless. Let's face it, we could just make a page about what Sora' wears and ITS significance.

*Ahem*... That aside, the black cloaks have become a 'common factor' in Kingdom Hearts series and are therefore noteworthy. Had only one person worn it, then I would have probably agreed with you, but since that isn't the case (there are at least 16 different wearers), I say this stays and should be expanded. --Hecko X 00:29, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

First, I wrote this page before I had an account. It's my first little baby... :"> I hope it doesn't get deleted!
Also, I had always been confused by the black cloak affair. Whenever I saw Riku or DiZ in one, I assumed Organization XIII. I think it's a common misconception that only Org XIII members wear this. I just wanted to make that clear. As I was writing this, I noticed that all wearers of the cloak use the corridors of darkness without succumbing to them. I thought that was significant.
And it's funny, Zack, 'cause Sora's clothes (atleast in KHII) are special, and maybe there SHOULD be an article on them. O_o *ponder ponder*
Anywho, I'd prefer if this didn't get deleted.Summon:WALL•E 04:22, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
  • I agree with Wall•E. The black cloaks are notable. As well Sora's clothes. The page does need to be fixed up a bit though. Dr.Kermit(The Doctor is in) 03:58, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
Riku's and Mickey's cloaks came from castle oblivion, Diz found them there so it's likley that organisation XIII made them. Also, i think the cloaks change size/shape for thier wearer, seeing as it's unlikly that the org would have a Micky-sized cloak. Myself 123 21:45, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Creator?

The "Creator" section of the article shouldn't be there in my opinion. The cloaks are most likely created from the darkness that is in the Corridors of Darkness. That would explain the the unique trait of the cloaks like Axel's extra-tight sleeves, Mickey's ears and small size, and Vexen's gown-like cloak. Saying the someone makes or "creates" then makes it sound like there someone with a street cart in the Corridors giving them away. And besides all this there is nothing official saying that there is a creator. I'm going to take it off.

This article sucks

But it could be so much better. Also, someone should add that the black coats conform to fit their wearer.

Still there?

The crap I put about insulation is still there? I say we should just delete this page.

I disagree. It seems like a noteworthy observation.

Black COAT

I took the liberty of re-editing this article to read Black Coat although I don't know how to change the title. I made the changes because it's a trenchcoat, not a cloak and in fact has only been referred to as a cloak by fans who do not realize the difference. In Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Xemnas even specifically refers to it as a coat. So here and on the Organization XIII page it should be referred to as a coat, not a cloak as the latter is something entirely different.MegaNerd18 22:38, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

DiZ calls it a cloak in Re:CoM, though, so you don't need to be calling anyone stupid.Glorious CHAOS! 06:39, November 15, 2009 (UTC)
He/she didn't.Adam 148 18:06, November 20, 2009 (UTC)
Just because it's called a cloak in Re:CoM is not enough to overturn the fact that it's a coat. Calling it a cloak was an accident on the part of the producers. A cloak is a cape with a hood. Cloaks have no zippers and hang down the back. This article of clothing is NOT a cloak. It's a coat. A trenchcoat to be exact.MegaNerd18 22:38, June 17, 2010 (UTC)
And just because Saix's weapon is called a claymore doesn't overturn the fact that it's not one. However, that's the term that the series gives it, which is why we use it. So, again, cloak is okay.Glorious CHAOS! 00:07, June 18, 2010 (UTC)
Also, Adam:

DiZ: The Organization will pursue you. Like a pack of hunting dogs, they will sneak up on you if they sense your presence. However---this cloak that is worn by Nobodies will render their eyes and noses useless. The ears, not so... They wear this to give themselves protection from being devoured by darkness. Is it clear? Even the Organization cannot rule the darkness.

Er...

Xemnas: Good tidings, friends. I am pleased to announce that a new comrade has been chosen to wear the coat.

--Lord Captain Cecil Harvey 01:24, August 8, 2010 (UTC)

Which does nothing to change the face that the games have also called it the "cloak".Glorious CHAOS! 04:22, August 8, 2010 (UTC)

my name is of no importance, kupo!

In this article it says the Moogle wears the coat because it symbolizes service to the organization. I disagree, I think it's pure comedy. For one, the Moogle just looks plain silly, his/her nose sticking out like that, and plus since the Moogle mimics the Organization in other ways ("my name is of no importance, kupo!") I think it's just to be funny/cute, not implying servitude.

So, anyone agree with me changing it?

Talk_Bubble_Legend_zpsa9c4698c.png I disagree. If the moogle wasn't servicing the Organization then why would it be synthesizing stuff for them? I don't think the Moogle itself was comedic because they're in every game, it only makes sense to have them in Days as well. I think the coat was on the moogle so that there was a logical reason that a moogle was there. You can't just find random moogles chilling in The Castle that Never Was.

Actually there is a moogle in the castle that never was in kh2

Nobody's Body

I was thinking...you know how the non-human nobodies have zippers? What the black cloaks worn by the Organization are actually more like body suits as opposed to clothes? User:Veroso 3 November, 2009 20:07

Except Naminé and Roxas are shown in different clothes (Roxas at his birth, not just in Virtual Twilight Town). Also, how could Riku and Mickey get ahold of them? Or Xion as she isn't actually a Nobody.Adam 148 18:08, November 20, 2009 (UTC)

Birth by Sleep

It would appear that chronologically the Black Coat is going to appear sooner than expected:

TerraCharm.pngAll ready brought up above, but Reconnect. Kingdom Hearts states Ansem was the creator of the cloak. Translations specifically state that he "Created cloaks for the beings of nothing." Obviously we should make note of this... somewhere...

TerraCharm.pngNo, considering Ansem the Wise is about his age if not older, regardless of the ten-year difference. The cloak protects a being from the darkness as well as its denizens, so I guess it could've been created by another source, but we should credit Ansem as the creator for now, as he specifically says he was, at least for Organization XIII. Why he'd help his own enemies is beyond me, though.

Heartless Emblem.pnghe said that he created that for the "beings of nothing" in other words the Org nobodies but as he said that he created it yes we can say that he is the creator but i think that we also should mention MX using a similar cloat

TerraCharm.pngWell, suppose MX knew Ansem. That would make Terranort's involvement with him a bit ironic, but when Ansem discovers Xehanort, he asks it with a seeming disbelief, "Xehanort?", and then Braig smiles, mostly because his and MX's plan was a success. That would give a source as to how MX got his coat, and then DiZ later gives random coats to Mickey and Riku. I doubt he just stripped some random Nobody, so...

Moogle citation

Q. Why do the Moogles wear Organization XIII robes if they are not in the Organization and how did they get them?

Nomura: There are also other characters such as Riku and King Mickey who wear that coat, but are not members of the Organization. That is to say, it is not a requirement to be a member of the Organization to wear the coat, and if the Moogle is within the castle walls, he is permitted to be there, so the coat is most likely issued by the Organization.

The Mysterious Figure

Someone with the correct permission needs to edit this page to include the Mysterious Figure into the article.

Did we ever stop to think that the coats are just there? Like normal clothes, to be found in a closet or folded away in a drawer? Just because DiZ pulls them out of his ass to give to Riku and Mickey doesn't exactly mean there's some mysticism at play. People pull items from behind them all the time, not just in Kingdom Hearts. You guys seem to be thinking a little too deep with something that may not have some mystical origin beyond someone just making them, and handing them out; like Xemnas, who's original wore the coat a decade ago, and then possibly upon becoming a Nobody, made more of them for the rest of the Organization. There could be some mysticism, or there could be none. Until we actually have more information, we can't really say, but that doesn't mean we have to give everything some mysterious origin. Sometimes, it's just clothes. Derekoe 05:15, September 25, 2010 (UTC)

Except that magic plays a massive role in Kingdom Hearts. The Black Coats are not normal clothes and clothing can be given special properties in KH (Sora's KHII clothing for example). You just said yourself that people frequently pull things out from behind them -- out of thin air/hammerspace. The cloaks could have come from anywhere in the same way the we don't know where the Keyblade is when Sora isn't holding it.LapisLazuliScarab05:35, September 25, 2010 (UTC)

They are made of darkness, serve the same purpose as the magical Keyblade Armor, and have super-topological properties.
What would make you think they could just be bought at the local Gap?Glorious CHAOS! 12:29, September 25, 2010 (UTC)

Kingdom Hearts Secret Ending

Why is the Black Coat not considered to appear in the original release of Kingdom Hearts when it is seen in its secret ending?

GUD 9:08, December 24, 2010 (SCT)

Because we don't count Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II's secret endings as official. Namely those secret endings are sort of like beta versions for KHII and BBS, thus non-canon. --VenCharm.pngLegoAlchemistVenCharm.png 01:31, February 5, 2011 (UTC)

The shoes worn under the coat for most wearers are identical to those worn by MX and Ansem SoD. Should this be in the article, or is it too insignificant?

Since this article is mainly about the black coat- it just mentions the shoes to finish off the Organization member's attire- I say leave it out.--Xion4ever 01:11, 7 October 2012 (UTC)

ASAS isn't canon, though, and is just a stylized interpretation of the KHD finale. What exactly would need to be covered, story-wise? I mean, we might be able to handle development info, as the coats were created for that movie so that they could hide the character's designs, but that's not story-info.

regarding Mickey's black coat

but in 358/2 days in the scene where he's talking to Riku I'm pretty sure I saw a hidden Mickey symbol where the chain is connected to the coat --Draph91 (talk) 12:58, 9 April 2016 (UTC)
