I believe images of closed chests would be better. 66.215.20.249 00:26, November 17, 2010 (UTC)

And you are ready to supply them I presume ~~Ottercat13~~
No, I don't know how to do that. It was merely a constructive suggestion. (Sorry I had to start a new topic, couldn't find the edit button) 66.215.20.249 05:25, November 17, 2010 (UTC)
I could get images of closed chests, but that requires me to start a new game; I'm willing to do that BUT I won't do it right now, possibly not in the week (Probably Friday or someday like that). Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I cannot accept, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those I had to kill because they pissed me off. - Erry 16:16, November 17, 2010 (UTC)
If anyone has a game where they have unopened chests, please megaupload the save file so that Erry can get it.(ಠ_ೃ) Bully! 16:25, November 17, 2010 (UTC)
I've started a new saving Kryten, so it doesn't really matter. I'll take them and extract the images gradually. Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I cannot accept, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those I had to kill because they pissed me off. - Erry 17:50, November 17, 2010 (UTC)

It's probably unnecessary to include images of both small and large chests, unless they actually are designed differently, and considering what the gallery does to the small chest images, it should probably just be the large ones. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 19:03, November 17, 2010 (UTC)

The designs are slightly different. The large chests have more decoration on them. Is there anyone who get images from other games? Probably not you, Erry. You're already getting the BBS ones. (Found the edit button: hidden under start a new topic. Another example of oasis' failings) 66.215.20.249 03:46, November 18, 2010 (UTC)

I could get the ones from Days (It's really only one chest used in the whole game.) and possibly KHI and II if I had component wires so I can record and screencap. Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I cannot accept, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those I had to kill because they pissed me off. - Erry 14:31, January 7, 2011 (UTC)

For Erry, you can try to upload the Keyblade Graveyard, since they are opened in the gallery. And for 66.215.20.249 ¿What does care? edit, new topic, they're the same. --Lukethehedgehog 13:33, January 7, 2011 (UTC)

LoD and Other Worlds

We need images for Land of Departure chests, as well as chests from KH1, KH2, and Re:CoM. Perhaps we could put the images in a gallery, grouped by game, then subdivided by size. 71.92.202.190 02:22, January 18, 2011 (UTC)

If I remember correctly, LoD chests are identical to Mysterious Tower/Radiant Garden chests. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 02:27, January 18, 2011 (UTC)

Castle of Dreams and Dwarf Woodlands

Is there any way we could get rips from areas that are well-lit?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 00:09, January 20, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, it's possible. Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I cannot accept, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those I had to kill because they pissed me off. - Erry 13:49, January 25, 2011 (UTC)

Specifically:

  • small ED, DW, CD, OC
  • large DW, CD

If there aren't any that are better lit, then never mind."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 23:18, January 25, 2011 (UTC)

List

I will make a list of all worlds appearing in the series to date. If no chest exist there or it has been uploaded before this message was writen, delete it from the list. If the small chest has been uploaded, write {{Button|x}} next to the world to make X appear. If the big chest has been uploaded, write {{Button|t}} to make Triangle appear. Here's the list:

--Lukethehedgehog 01:44, January 22, 2011 (UTC)

One more thing ¿Can I use the big chest for Mysterious Tower as the chest of Days? They're identical. The same with the small and big chests of the same world to LoD. --Lukethehedgehog 15:12, January 22, 2011 (UTC)
If that's true, then Erry can upload the same image under a different name."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 23:09, January 22, 2011 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure the chest from 358/2 Days is the one from Misterious Tower, I see it on a Walkthrough. But the LoD Chest, I don't know how it is, I've only read it on this talk. --Lukethehedgehog 13:42, January 25, 2011 (UTC)

A note on Kingdom Hearts treasure chests

Symbol - Keyblade Master.png
FA icon.png I'm not sure where to put this, so if anyone can fill me in, it'll be great! I'm gonna put this in point form and see if I can render it into a paragraph later:
  • There are three types —
    • red treasure chests are available throughout the game, and these are the first chests found by Sora. They can be opened with or without a Keyblade.
      • Now on the subject, are these chests really large chests? I am almost 100% positive that all of them are the same size.
      • The Crystal Trident and Pretty Stone were in red treasure chests, so I presume that red chests hold key items.
    • green chests are square, but otherwise function in the same way as a red chest. They are first found in the Destiny Islands.
    • blue chests have Keyholes, and can only be opened with a Keyblade. The first of these chests is found in the Green Room in Traverse Town, but cannot be opened until Sora has talked to Yuffie.

Today you will be examined for the Mark of Mastery. TroisNyxÉtienne — 11:19, 8 March 2011 (EST)

Thank you, you are my heroic voice of logic, I love you <3

KH/CoM vs. KHII/Days/BbS

So, it has now become clear that KH and CoM have a totally different system: three (poss. 4) styles of chests, which have environmental effects from world to world, but not totally different designs. Furthermore, the items that are within the chests have no clear pattern -- the different designs are just there for the sake of it.

I think we should split the KH/CoM versions into a separate gallery, with info on how the different types of chests work (if there are truly any differences whatsoever). We're also going to need to get pictures of all the variations of the KH/CoM chests, and we need to determine whether that "third large chest" is just a world-specific variation of the red chest."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 22:30, 13 July 2011 (EDT)

I removed these from the article, as I'm not sure whether there's any actual distinction at work here:

We'll also need to rename the KH, KHCoM chest images based on the world they appear in."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 23:01, 13 July 2011 (EDT)

Which worlds do these appear in?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 19:12, 14 July 2011 (EDT)

WL blue chest has similar aesthetic as "third large chest", but red chest matches OC chest. Are we sure we have the right image?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 12:29, 15 July 2011 (EDT)

I was in a hurry yesterday so I'll post my thoughts on that matter now. The red chest model of Wonderland looks indeed like the image above both in the NA and JP version of ReCoM. I think it's just a mistake so Erry's version should be used. Also the DI+MO and TRT+TT models should be the same, only the lightning is different. So let's use the better ones and delete the superseded, I posted them just for comparison. Also it's really hard to get good shots of the missing chests (all the green ones and the blue one of 100 Acre Wood) in KH wih the stupid camera controls. --ShardofTruth 10:17, 15 July 2011 (EDT)

I used the more vibrant TT and MO versions for those duplicates, and I switched the WL image. However, is there any chance of us getting an accurate WL Red that is oriented the same as the other chests? Or is that being too nitpicky?
Also, for the missing ones (Deep Jungle, End of the World, Hundred Acre Wood):
  • Do chests differ in KH1? Do they differ in the same ways as KHReCoM (I'm assuming the images we have now are from ReCoM)?
    • Yes they do, at least the red ones, I didn't found blue ones in all worlds. The chests in Neverland look like the Olympus Coliseum ones though.
  • Can someone take a quick screenshot of these chests, so that we know if we need to get rips or not?
  • Does Hundred Acre Wood have all three chests, or does it just have the red? Which one appear in KHReCoM?
    • The green chest is there in KH but I couldn't find a blue one. ReCoM does only seem to hold the red one (in the jump playground), but I hopefully will clarifiy that soon.
  • We've established that the chest contents have no rhyme nor reason in KH1, right? Do they have any pattern in KHReCoM? At one point there was a claim that one type of large chests had the second set of bonuses. Finally, do the greens appear in KHReCoM at all?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 12:29, 15 July 2011 (EDT)
    • The red ones are the chest from the blue card treasure rooms, the blue ones are found exclusivly in the Key to Rewards room. I don't think there are green chests in ReCoM at all. --ShardofTruth 21:58, 16 July 2011 (EDT)

I think I covered them all now. I couldn't get better pictures of the blizzard clam and the Hollow Bastion green chest, there is just not a better perspective available. --ShardofTruth 22:40, 20 July 2011 (EDT)

Okay, according to the table above, this images don't exist, so....where did we get them? Are they from KH:ReCoM?

Yes, apparently they can only be found in ReCoM. --ShardofTruth 11:34, 21 July 2011 (EDT)

I've seen a blue chest in OC, as well as Monstro. I think I have one of Halloween Town. Atlantica had no chests besides the red, the clams and the big one. Neverland has blue chests too. This is all in KH1, by the way. Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I cannot accept, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those I had to kill because they pissed me off. - Erry 12:16, 21 July 2011 (EDT)
I was only browsing real quick through all the worlds, maybe I oversaw some of the chests. Atlantica has red chests in Ariel's cave though. --ShardofTruth 12:34, 21 July 2011 (EDT)

Atlantica's Clams

Shouldn't the clams in Atlantica be considered Treasures Chests?--Xabryn 08:33, 15 July 2011 (EDT)

They ARE treasure chests, I actually have the Thunder Clam so far. I just need to get the Blizzard, Fire and normal clam. Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I cannot accept, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those I had to kill because they pissed me off. - Erry 08:39, 15 July 2011 (EDT)

Should the large chest next to Ariel's Grotto be considered a treasure chest? You know the chest which is blocking the passage to the Sunken Ship. - JTD 09:09, 15 July 2011 (EDT)

Maybe. But I think it's just a regular level object like those random brown chests in the Neverland world of ReCoM. --ShardofTruth 10:17, 15 July 2011 (EDT)

You can open it, though, can't you? --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 11:41, 15 July 2011 (EDT)

Yes, you can. Although I've already opened it in my saving. Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I cannot accept, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those I had to kill because they pissed me off. - Erry 13:18, 15 July 2011 (EDT)
Correction, these are oysters (unless the game explicitly calls them clams)."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 10:38, 21 July 2011 (EDT)
The official guide calls them Clam Shells. Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I cannot accept, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those I had to kill because they pissed me off. - Erry 00:15, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

Default chest

The default chest design appears in several worlds, but at least for KG, we're allowing the word-unique images because of the effect applied to the chest. I have no way to tell myself, but for other worlds, are there other effects, or is it simply due to lighting?192.249.47.196 16:49, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

Okay, from the beginning. I thought that we use the default chest image for a world if the world uses the default chest model. I can't speak for KHI, because the chest model are hidden well inside the game files, but this is certainly true for KHII. Now, the small chest (and the unused large chest) in the Land of Departure use a different model with a different texture. I'm still working on showing the small chests closed (because animation is not supported for BBS at the moment), so the image is only a makeshift.
smallchestskhbbs.png
In the middle is the normal small chest, on the left is the Land of Departure small chest (definitely used ingame) and on the right the Jungle Book World chest (obviously not used ingame). As you can see, all three models look very much alike but the texture is different and it's not a lighting issue. If that's not enough to get a single image, so be it. --ShardofTruth 23:49, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
So, everywhere else that we say there are default chests, they have exactly the same texture? It's just these four chest textures (Default, Louie's Ruins, Land of Departure, Keyblade Graveyard)?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 03:29, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
The Realm of Darkness also uses the LoD chests. Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I cannot accept, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those I had to kill because they pissed me off. - Erry 11:40, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
Are there similar "textures" in KHII and KHD? Or is BbS the only one that has variations of the default?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 17:06, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
I try to make this answer as exact as possible: In KHII there is a normal large/small chest model and special models for Twilight Town (which are exact duplicates of the standard model), Agrabah, Beast's Castle, Port Royal, Disney Castle, The World that Never was, Olympus Coliseum, Land of the Dragons, Halloween Town, Christmas Town, 100 Acre Wood, Space Paranoids, Timeless River and Pride Lands. KHIIFM added the large chest model for Hollow Bastion which is used for the new areas. Every time a chest appears in another world not listed above, it should be the large/small standard one. Additionally, Yen Sid's Tower and Dive to the Heart are considered as parts of Twilight Town by the game, therefore they use the same chest model. There are no more chest models and not a single one with the small variation we have in KHBBS.
KHD doesn't have more chest models than shown here:
3582dayschests2.png
There isn't a variation either. KHBBS on the other hand has these small variations (LoD, KG, the small chest of the deleted Jungle Book world), possibly because the staff got lazy. Anyway I haven't check the Realm of Darkness chest yet (I have to unpack the files again), but Radiant Garden, Yen Sid's Tower and the big chest of the deleted Jungle Book world use the same model. --ShardofTruth 18:11, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

Okay, so:

KHII
  • Default small chest: Radiant Garden
  • Default large chest: Radiant Garden (the only exception are the two chests in the Garden of Assemblage)
  • Twilight Town small chest (identical to Default): Twilight Town, Mysterious Tower, Dive to the Heart
  • Twilight Town large chest (identical to Default): Twilight Town, Mysterious Tower, Dive to the Heart
KHBbS
  • Default small chest: Radiant Garden, Mysterious Tower
  • Default large chest: Radiant Garden, Mysterious Tower, Realm of Darkness (not seen ingame?)
  • LoD small chest: Land of Departure
  • LoD large chest: Land of Departure (not seen ingame?)
  • RoD small chest: Realm of Darkness
  • KG small chest: Keyblade Graveyard
  • KG large chest: Keyblade Graveyard

If that's correct (and please edit it as needed), we're left with two new small chests and one new large chest. Do we want to consider these, and the Keyblade Graveyard chest, as truly unique? Shard, how does the game handle lighting?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 00:05, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

I just realized that the naming in KHBBSFM is incoherent. SE replaced most of the cut Jungle Book material with stuff from the Realm of Darkness for the Secret Episode. There are serveral reason why they could have done that, most notably the filesize of the UMD. So the Jungle Book treasure chest is the missing Realm of Darkness treasure chest instead. Because there isn't a large chest to be found in the Realm of Darkness it could explain the unaltered large chest model. I have to check the original Japanese KHBBS to see if that's true. --ShardofTruth 01:13, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
It's official, the Jungle Book chests only have a grey "Test"-texture in the original version, SE reused the models for the Realm of Darkness chests in KHBBSFM. --ShardofTruth 13:16, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
So, do we want to add the LoD and RoD small chests, and add the Louie's Ruins info to the removed content page? Would they just be remodeled to simulate lighting, or can the game apply lighting to existing models?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 01:25, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
They are retextured to simulate lighting. Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I cannot accept, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those I had to kill because they pissed me off. - Erry 10:13, 1 October 2011 (UTC)~
Awesome! Then I think that instead of uploading new images, we can just add a ref note to the LoD and RoD bits in the small default chest lest saying something like that, and add a note about Louie's Ruins here and on the Removed Content page. Deal?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 19:17, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
Objection! Lighting works the same as in KHII (look at Erry's first DW chest here for example), so if SE would them look brighter or darker just by lighting, the could've done that. What they did was to slightly adjust the chest texture to the world's color palette. I agree that the difference is only cometic, but it is different and should at least be mentioned, because that's what the article is for. Also, the Jungle Book world was cut, so were the chests. It is as simple as that and there is not even a thing to be shown, because it's just a grey texture with the word test on it. So it's basically what you said Kryten:D--ShardofTruth 21:24, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
So, can we just add ref notes to explain that, or do we need to upload the variants?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 04:05, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
Seriously, can someone who understands the situation please write up some coverage?"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 22:35, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
Basically, you two are the only ones who really understand the situation covered above. We need you guys to write up some coverage either on this article or on the removed content page."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 08:47, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
