Vsymbol.pngWell hey hey wiki'ers. Getting bored of most video games oddly, found RE:Coded to be a bit of a dud repeat and after a while of plain grinding on BBS and still no luck with beating the Mysterious Figure/AKA: Uknown it gets a little frustrating so I thought I'd come back to share a pent up idea.

I thought it would be a wonderful idea to use that now almost useless Keyblade War forum as a roleplay section for members of the new wiki. Of course there are many who believe such things should not be done on the wiki, and I agree that from the factuality and point of the wiki goals it does not meet it. Buuut, it does inspire the editors here to stick around, get friendly with other members, and thereby increase potential team editing efficiency. So I'll post my idea below for those perhaps intrigued...

Idea

Taking the same name as the the current forum, we'll use the 'Keyblade War' forum as a base of opporations for a wiki-wide roleplay zone. Posts/Edits in this area (would not/would not have to) count in future contests/events requiring specific edit counts to be neccesary for participation. The idea of the roleplay is to take current knowledge of pre-Birth by Sleep events and turn it into a semi-factual-as-it-can-get roleplay for wiki editors to partake in as they please.

Current knowledge of the keyblade war can be found on the Keyblade War page, but the point that this story begins, is the point when Keyblade weilders have become so common that they can come from nearly any world and are from either light or dark sides. In this way any editor may have one character to roleplay as who at some point during the story, gains the ability to wield a keyblade and thereby the final results our story being, the grand finale, the Keyblade War. Howvere we can control to our own ideas the events in between. Ideas of my own include, The World That Never Was being a non-Nobody like world called the City of Dawn. City of Dawn is a world of the in-between much like Twilight Town and other such worlds. The point of the world being that long before the keyblade war this world existed as a real world, however at somepoint during the starting point of our story a keyblade warrior of the dark opens the door and allows darkness to take the heart of the world. Sending the heart of the world to the realm of darkness but by the strength of the heart of the people there creating a world of nothing as well. A world completely unique and to be called the Organization XIII's home in the present Kingdom hearts games. This world would be the world that my own character comes from and while not at that time getting a keyblade he has the iheritance ceremony performed just before his world is taken into darkness. Other characters from this world could be Lightning from FF XIII and other such FF characters not currently present in Kingdom Hearts, so as to avoid conflict with connection to the present story. Nobody's could exist as well as of course the heartless, but the nobodies here are usually those of the lesser kind, being that it was not until Xehanort's era that the strong nobodies who became Organization XIII could be formed. this provides that Xehanort could have gained previous knowledge of the existance of Nobodies and so ensure the success of his future plans. By creating this roleplay I hope it to stay within factual lines, like Olympus Coliseum still exists in the realm of light so it could not be taken into darkness, or other such contradictory plots. The rest of the main story is to be decided by present roleplayers but must still rely on current knowledge facts and attempts to use as few possibly contradictory plots as possible. Our story will end when enough sufficient time has passed within the story that the Keyblade War can happen. Perhaps it is a bit depressing that the end of our story is also the end of our characters, but that's why it's vital to ensure a good plot throughout to make sure tht our character's ends would not be in vain of just being a slightly amusing waste of time. XD Anywho, this of course does not have to happen on the wiki and we could instead of course use an outside reliable website to host it on if enough are interested. It's kind of like a joint fanfic from all the members of the wiki. Perhaps we could even send it in to Nomura, Disney, and Enix if we keep it good until the end. Of course what I really want for this period is an online MMO for Kingdom Hearts instead of another regular platform game. Be pretty cool if they could do it for the upcoming NGP from Sony. Maintain a BBS style play, with character customisation and full online play? Not jsut adhoc? Anyway, that's another talk... So... post your comments, criticisms, and a critiques below, no matter how harsh they might be, what type of writer/artist would I be if I could not take a good suggestion here and there?

Vsymbol.pngFire away.
DaysXionTalk.png
OPXion4EverIcon.png No. You say you understand the problems such an irreleavant, unecessary event can cause, yet you're still for such an event. Onto your reasons for the event:
  • ...inspire the editors here to stick around... - Keyword: editors. Stick around for the environment and everything else this great Wiki has to offer, don't leave or stay whether we have community "Come to Jesus" moments or Wiki-wide roleplays.

We have user friendly Wiki-space: Mirage Arena (including voting, nominations), votes for featured users (including voting, and nominations), votes for featured media (including voting, and nominations), votes for featured articles (including voting, and nominations- this is a recently new freedom all editors have the liberty of: voting. There was a time when only staff could nominate/vote on this one), heck even user talk pages are making a comeback! Then there is the IRC: #KHWiki-social has become very relaxed in rules and environment. Then there are the numerous roleplaying channels other users have created and use daily (##roleplay, among many others). Granted, I can understand that some users have grown bored with what we currently offer and seek a new form of entertainment. However, I stress that you all be content with what we have and focus on other things: like editing. Lord knows there's a crap ton of work to be done still.

  • ...get friendly with other members... - Go to the IRC/edit forums/talk pages/etc.

We all know how this event, should it be created, will work: some users will most certainly jump at the chance, both Wiki-Princess and actual mainspace editors. Next, a flood of Wiki Princesses will flock to the roleplay and edit just that, nothing else. This leaves a handful of users to edit the mainspace. Don't know about you guys, but I get pretty sick and tired of seeing the same handful of editors work their butts off while others simply use this place as a blog, social get together. Seriously, actual edtiors get surpassed in edits by WikiPrincess' edits to talkpages, irrelevant forums, blogs, etc. We've seen this happen many many times. Note: I'm not naming any names or singling out anyone, I believe we all know who lies where.

However, your comment of having this held off-Wiki is right on. I'm all for you guys hosting such a thing elsewhere. Do that, and I have no problem. Heck, you might even squeeze an idea out of me. However, I want to stress that I will oppose such an idea wherever it can be hosted if you all start spamming the Wiki/IRC with propaganda of "come join the Wiki roleplay at <insert place here>!" and the like.

This idea is wonderful, but, as Xion said, it should not be here. But, might I recommend suggesting this on the old Wikia? I think that they would jump all over this idea, especially with the new chat feature. And, if we wanted to participate, all we would have to do is log in there. KRCCFNF is tired of being STEPPED ON. 16:13, 9 June 2011 (EDT)

Vsymbol.pngRight on! I really appreciate the criticism, thanks. Hmm, I don't have time for a chat roleplay seeing as I can't always be there, and I can't see old posts to see what everybody is creating. SO it does have to be forum based as I'm sure others are in the same predicament of time constraints. I figured the answer would be to host if off this wiki anyway so I went ahead and brought that up, there are such sites as GaiaOnline that I'm sure several wiki-ers already have an account on that can easily be used to make a wiki guild there for roleplay and such, seeing as Gaia largely used for roleplaying. I hadn't thought about the WikiPrincess' actually, a good point out which I think singularly blows the idea all away from being hosted on this wiki. So I agree with every point you made I think... The only prject around I might could be helpful on is the Project ENEMY, I don't think I've even checked that out before but I might can do it. Mostly I was adding gameplay to the Days weapons before the move.

TALK -
EVIL has come... at last...
First off, the timeline should be set somewhere within the timeframe of the current Kingdom Hearts Universe, for accuracies sake. Before Nobodies and such existed, the mechanics and physics of the entire universe could be entirely different. BUT, the plot will be modified slightly. We're going to assume that Sora's quest and all side quests of all other entities were frozen shortly before the end of Kingdom Hearts II, meaning that Org XIII still exists, etc, etc. You may be wondering what this does, so I'll explain my resoning. Have you ever played Pirates of the Carribean online? If you have, then you should understand this concept. With the plot frozen, all of their motives are still in place, and while you can still interact with all of them with the normal laws of the Kingdom Hearts Universe. Thus, this roleplay would never have to end, and could be a perpetual thing (which, as I said, would be beyond awesome on the Wikia).

All players would start normally, on some home world liked Traverse Town or Twilight Town. They would learn the basics (game mechanics, and such), and then choose from a variety of basic weapons. As the game progressed, they would have different counters that would raise and fall with each quest, specifically Light, Dark, and Nothing counters, which would determine the player's affiliation with Light, Darkness, or Nobodies. There would also be weapon levels, which would increase with EXP, so the player could get more and more advanced weapons, magics, and items. The final counter would be a "Heart" level, or how strong the player's heart is. Once it reached a certain point, the player would be able to wield a Keyblade (which you could obtain different Keychains for through different quests in different worlds, which, by the way, would all be featured). And, yes, there would be some sort of place where players could battle, like the Keyblade Graveyard.

Death. It's inevitable, even for roleplay characters. There would be three ways that a player could die. First, they could be killed by another player, which would only knock them out. The second is that they could be killed by a Heartless, which, would, in turn, make the player into a Heartless. The player could only be returned to their former self by being slain by a Keyblade weilder. BUT, based on the strength of their Heart, they would become differnt levels of (Pureblood) Heartless, and they could drag other players into darkness. The third and final method is to be consumed by darkness, again. BUT, if they were powerful enough, they could choose between being a Heartless or a Nobody. In order to return to humanity, the Heartless would have to destroy the Nobody and then die, or the Nobody would have to destroy the Heartless and then be destroyed. In addition, if the player was extremely high level, they could become a humanoid Nobody, like Organization XIII. They would retain all of their weapons and abilities, and would return to humanity the same way as lower level Nobodies. At the same time, however, they could join or create an Organziation, and try to raise their "Heart Count", or number of Hearts needed to create their own world, which, if achieved, could hold new quests ande new Heartless, as players able to achieve this ultimate feat could easily design excellent quests.

Keyblade-Blk.png No. No no no no no. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. NO.

Absolutely not on the wiki.

Time and time again, the purpose of this wiki's existence is forgotten and cast aside like some kind of pointless definition. Newsflash, people, it's not. Our purpose defines this wiki and what we strive to create and work toward. This wiki isn't one designed for chatting, random discussion, fanart, fanfiction, and certainly not roleplaying. This wiki is an encyclopedia. When you open up a standard encyclopedia you would find on a shelf in your classroom or library, do you find advertisements for contests or arbitrary fictional works? No, you don't. That example holds true for the wiki. The Kingdom Hearts Wiki is an online encyclopedia designed to cover all aspects of the Kingdom Hearts sphere in great depth and breadth in a clear, easily presentable fashion. Having "roleplaying" on the wiki doesn't help us improve the wiki at all.

While you claim to understand this, it would appear most evident that you do not see this situation in the full scope of the wiki. The sheer fact that you come to the wiki to try to start roleplay out of sheer boredom is not a good sign; it shows a misunderstanding of what the wiki is, as it is certainly not a playground. You say that such an activity would inspire editors to stick around. Umm, no. Not at all. I don't even think the Mirage Arena has attracted a plethora of new users. What we'll attract is a ton of WikiPrincesses who will shun editing, encourage activities that do not help the wiki grow, and ultimately, editing will be undermined by roleplayers. These roleplayers sticking around doesn't help the wiki either.

Such a plan, therefore, also does not increase team editing efficiency. If anything, it will inhibit it, possibly by quite a significant amount. That's the opposite of good, people. Bad.

We should actually be very grateful that users interested in sharing fanart, roleplaying, and, well, WikiPrincessing are being attracted to the Kingdom Hearts Wikia right now. They are finding a wiki that suits their desires more while keeping our community work-oriented. I will oppose ideas that try to break this division considerably, such as this one, negatively affecting both wikis' communities.
