Keyblade Order[edit]

Hey there! Could you please tell me why you reverted my edits on the Keyblade pages IRT their info boxes? As in, why does the Re:COM tab come before KH2? Is it done chronologically, instead of release order? Because if so, then pages like Destiny's Embrace need to be changed, because in the info box, the KH2 tab comes before BBS. --Riku's battle sprite (KHDays) mikoto 03:19, 22 April 2023 (UTC)

Sure! As you initially guessed, the infoboxes are ordered based on release date of the games. However, the remakes are placed under the original games (usually, both versions of the game are condensed into a single tab under the original's name). For the bonus Keyblades in Re:COM, and some abilities introduced in BBS and carried over into Re:coded, this does mean that their first real-world appearance isn't the first tab; in such cases, we have to make sure the lead of the article clearly states what game they were first introduced in.
For instance, EXP Zero was first a thing in KHIIFM, but it was then brought over to the HD version of the KHFM. So, the infobox (once it's made) will have KHFM as the first tab and KHIIFM as the second, aligning with the release order of the original versions of the game. (There's also a small bit of discussion on this topic near the end of Forum:Placing Kingdom Hearts coded, if you'd like.) Hope that makes sense. —Aid1043 (talk) 17:18, 22 April 2023 (UTC)

Music[edit]

Hello, I noticed that you deleted the file of "A Night on the Bare Mountain." I was going to check why it had been deleted, but it seems to be cut off. On my end it reads "(A Night on the Bare Mountain (and the other originally orchestrated tracks) doesn)". I'm assuming that what it was trying to say is that the orchestral tracks are identical to their original versions (in this case, the DDD version). Am I correct? —Giantgold 2:47, 24 April 2023 (UTC)

Yes, that's exactly right, sorry about that. I've added a note to the album pages for clarification. —Aid1043 (talk) 02:51, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
Thank you! Sorry about that. But I now have another question. On the page for "Showdown at Hollow Bastion", both the KH2 and 2.5 versions are present, even though they are identical. Checking the article's history, someone previously removed the 2.5 version for this reason, but someone else undid the removal. Was removing the 2.5 version the right move, and undoing that was a mistake? I was going to remove the BBS and 1.5 versions of "Another Side," (not the battle version in the case of 1.5) but this made me stop. Do you think they should they be taken down or not? —Giantgold 2:57, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
I think you're right about "Showdown at Hollow Bastion", we should be safe to re-remove the 2.5 version. The same goes for the 1.5 recording of regular "Another Side"; if the files are redundant, removing them is the right call.
That said, keep the BBS version of "Another Side". BBS did this strange thing where they made new, higher-quality recordings of KH and KHII tracks – similar to what the HD collections did – but then didn't bother to include them in the soundtrack. There should be a full list of these updated BBS orchestrations on the album page. —Aid1043 (talk) 03:25, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
OK, thank you for clearing this up for me! —Giantgold 3:27, 24 April 2023 (UTC)

Merch project[edit]

Just wanted to say nice work on that Merchandise project. Let me know if you need any help. TheSilentHero 18:14, 30 April 2023 (UTC)

Thank you! I actually do have a question about how to title a page: while most of the merchandise can be sorted into articles by brand, there are some designers that made just one or two products, rather than having an actual collaboration event or merch campaign. I'm planning on having a sort of catch-all article for these minor brands, though I'm not sure what an appropriate title would be. I've thrown around "Miscellaneous brand merchandise", "Minor brand merchandise", and some other ideas (maybe a "List of..."), but nothing seems quite right. Any ideas? —Aid1043 (talk) 19:55, 30 April 2023 (UTC)
That's a very good question. Maybe you could make a "List of merchandise by brand" page, and link to the specific pages for the brands that have one, and cover the ones that don't get their own page on there. TheSilentHero 17:13, 1 May 2023 (UTC)

Questions About Editing[edit]

Hi! I'm new to creating and editing pages. I saw that you made some minor revisions to my MoM pages. I was curious what the difference between [[Seeker of Darkness KHMOM|Seeker of Darkness]] and {{c|Seeker of Darkness|mom}} is and why one is preferred over the other. I want to make sure I uphold the standard of the rest of the wiki. Thank you for your time.--KH4 icon.pngSoRiKaKH4 icon.png 14:51, 17 August 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for asking. The answer's not immediately apparent, since to a reader, there is no difference; both links function identically.
When editing, we typically use the {{c}} template for efficiency. The template will automatically add the parenthesis to the link destination without altering how the text appears, allowing us to link to something like "Seeker of Darkness (KHMOM)" without needing to write out the name twice in a piped link, like so: {{c|<article title>|<part in parentheses>}}. So it's mostly a stylistic preference for the wiki, but also if we ever change how we format article titles, using the template would allow us to change all of the links at once rather than editing every individual page.
Relatedly, if you ever need to link to a "Game:" article, there's a similar template we use to save time and space. Instead of writing, for example, [[Game:Guardando nel buio|Guardando nel buio]], you can use the {{ns}} template to write {{ns|game|Guardando nel buio}}. It has the format {{ns|<namespace>|<article title>}}.
Hope that helps! —Aid1043 15:18, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for clearing that up for me! Is there a list of these nifty templates somewhere?
Also (on an unrelated note): I couldn't find anything in the MoS or the related Help pages on image galleries. What are the rules for those? I know the MoS says that all MoM stages must have one, but it doesn't say what render to use for enemies. For example: On the KH1 stages, I've been using the KH1 renders for the galleries. Is this okay or should I instead use the most recent render available?--KH4 icon.pngSoRiKaKH4 icon.png 15:56, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
I don't think there's a clean list, maybe I'll write one up for the MoS or Help:Editing. (I suppose you could look at Category:In-line templates, but sifting through that would take a while.)
Per the images, I'd imagine that we would want whatever render is used in KHMOM. Unless I'm wrong, I think they're all just taken from KH, KHII, KHBBS, and KH3D, as you've been using already. So I guess just stick with using whatever the source game's render is, but don't bother doing so for games like KHD or KHIII which obviously aren't used in MoM. —Aid1043 16:52, 17 August 2023 (UTC)

MoM Drops[edit]

Just out of curiosity, where did you get those MoM drop rates? Great work on those pages, by the way. TheSilentHero 11:28, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

Thanks! They took me a while to track down, and the short answer is that I took them from the game's code.
The full explanation is that after accessing the game's internal database (thanks to waterkh's guide), I was able to find one set of drop rates just written out in a table (MusicTable), which was clear enough. Levels have a secondary set of drop rates for only two materials (before the appropriate Crystal is unlocked), but I discovered that each stage has a "DropAdjustValue" which gets multiplied with the written set of drop rates. After multiplying, this gives us all the clean 60/40 and 75/25 splits for the initial material drop rates. (I double-checked this by making levels drop 100x more materials, and all the ratios I looked at matched up, so I'm satisfied.) —Aid1043 15:51, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
Interesting. I guess we won't be needing an Ultimania after all. ?TheSilentHero 17:52, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
Wow, great work Aid! --ShardofTruth 18:16, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

What do you think of this as a clearer way of showing the drops? TheSilentHero 12:54, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
