Joe is a character who appears in Kingdom Hearts Union χ. He originated from the Disney/Pixar film Soul, making him and Mr. Mittens the first two characters who debuted on Disney+ to appear in the Kingdom Hearts series.

Design
Joe is a dark-skinned man with black hair, a thin mustache, and brown eyes. His face is long with a bulbous nose, and he wears a black sweater and black hat.
Origin
Joe Gardner first appeared as the main protagonist of the Disney/Pixar film Soul, voiced by Jamie Foxx. A middle-school band teacher, Joe is a fan of jazz music and aspires to perform with Dorothea Williams's jazz band. At the prompting of one of his former students, Joe auditions for Williams and manages to get a position in her band, but he is so busy celebrating, he falls down a hole into the Great Beyond. Desperate to escape, Joe teams up with lost soul 22 to return to his body.
