During the fight against Xehanort and Vantias, the old master uses his keyblade to extract his heart and put it into Terra's body. While Ventus is forcibly merged with his dark counterpart and in doing so the χ-blade is forged but remains incomplete due to the boys merge being incomplete. After Ven beats Vantias in a final showdown the χ-blade is destroyed but it caused a light storm explosion so massive that it forced everyone out of the Keyblade Graveyard except for the Lingering Will.
