In Kingdom Hearts, accessories are equippable items that provide numerous effects, predominantly boosts in Hit Points (HP), Magic Points (MP), Ability Points (AP), Strength, and Defense. Accessories may be obtained throughout the game in various ways; the most basic are purchasable at the accessory shop in Traverse Town, while more powerful accessories are rewarded for defeating certain bosses, or must be synthesized.

Sora and Donald begin the game with one accessory slot, and Goofy with two. Additional slots may be obtained through leveling or completing in-game events, with a total of three, two, and four slots for Sora, Donald, and Goofy, respectively.

In Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, slight adjustments were made to three existing accessories (Three Stars, Chaos Ring, and Rune Armlet), and eight new accessories were added.
