MP orbs can also increase the MP gauge when it's blue. | |||

Mechanic
Kingdom Hearts
Besides using Ether, Sora and his party can recover MP by collecting MP orbs. There is also a mechanic that helps regaining MP called Charge. Charge is represented by orange bar that is placed on the edge of the MP bar. Each time Sora or his party deal physical damage, damaged by enemies, or gain MP orbs, the Charge gauge will rise. After the gauge is at the end of the MP bar, a single MP bar will be gained until the maximum amount of MP bar is gained. Using magic will decrease the Charge gauge before an MP bar.
Kingdom Hearts II
As with Kingdom Hearts, in Kingdom Hearts II Ether is still the quickest way to gain MP. After fully depleting the MP gauge, the bar will turn pink, and slowly rises until it's full, and then turns back into blue again. The pink bar means MP is being recovered, and Sora cannot use any magic until the bar is turned back to blue again. The MP recovery mode can be ended quickly by using Ether or collecting MP orbs. MP orbs can also increase the MP gauge when it's blue.
