The Dream Shield (ガードオブドリーム Gādo obu Dorīmu , lit. "Guard of Dream") is a weapon in Kingdom Hearts. In the beginning of the game you have the option to choose this, or one of two other dream weapons. If you choose this weapon, you will focus mainly on defense, rather than magic or offense.
Appearances
Kingdom Hearts
The Dream Shield is one of the Disney-themed weapons that appear in Kingdom Hearts. Sora obtains the Dream Shield in the Awakening, but only if the player chooses to take this weapon. The player can also ignore it, or discard it. If they accept to use the Dream Shield, then Sora's stats will focus on Defense, and he will learn support abilities more quickly. If he discards it, then Defense will be the least focused stat. If he ignores it, then Defense will grow normally. If Sora takes the Dream Shield, he loses it upon leaving the Awakening. Later in the game, the shield may be obtained as a weapon for Goofy.
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days
The Dream Shield appears as one of Goofy's few weapons in the Multiplayer Mode of 358/2 Days. To equip it, Goofy must have the Zero Gear 5 attached. The Dream Rod and Dream Sword also appear as weapons for secret characters Donald and Sora, respectively. When doing a combo in the air, if one looks carefully, the small "explosions" form Mickeys's head and ears.
Kingdom Hearts II
The Dream Shield made a cameo appearance in Kingdom Hearts II, along with other elements from the Awakening that Roxas found in the Station of Awakening. Like Sora, the player may choose to accept the shield or not. However, it turns into the Keyblade if taken.
