The Grim Reaper is a boss from Kingdom Hearts II.
Posing as the second boss from Port Royal, the Grim Reaper is a Heartless that is summoned by the Nobody Luxord to acquire the treasure of Isla de Muerta. Sora and company battled it twice--first aboard the Black Pearl, and then at the docks of Port Royal. During the second battle, it is invincible when treasure is out of its chest; when Sora uses Magnet to bring the medallions back into the chest, the Grim Reaper becomes vulnerable.
Despite its name, the Grim Reaper resembles an Aztec statue swinging a blade pendulum. However, this fits the Aztec theme of the first Pirates of the Caribbean film on which the events of the first visit to Port Royal were based on. Furthermore, his appearance, minus the pendulum, appears to be based on the (real-life) Aztec god of death Mictlantecuhtli.
Although game play in the American version of Kingdom Hearts II was edited so undead pirates wouldn't catch on fire, the Grim Reaper still catches fire.
Strategy
The Grim Reaper is first fought on the Black Pearl. It is a VERY simple fight. It doesn't attack much and by now you will be a high level. Combo it then use a drive. Jack's Limit can be handy.
The second battle is harder.
1.The Grim Reaper can absorb the Cursed Aztec Gold and become invincible.
2.To nulify use magic, best bet is Thunder.
3.Soon it will try to absorb the Aztec Gold. Stop it with two reaction command.
4.This will grant with over 150 gold being lost.
When all of the gold is returned to the chest the Grim Reaper will be vunrable. Attack and repeat.
Journal Entry
A Heartless that appeared in Port Royal, it was said to be born from the curse of the Aztec gold.
Using the curse to become undead, it became a ghoul, making it hard to be defeated.
