Revision as of 18:21, 7 August 2010
We need new admins!Ladies and gentlement, we have reached a situation very much like last year; there are no longer anyone around with the authority to manage this wiki (and by manage, I mean be able to delete articles, ban vandals, uphold rules, etc.). While the former management system was more of a monarchi, we strive for a democratic solution, we therefore need a handful of people (3-6 to be more specific) who has the time, knowledge (both of Kingdom Hearts and of Wiki Markup), and will to become admins (sysops). If you think you fit the bill, then give me a heads up and we'll talk it over. And for those of you who don't make the cut (in case too many apply), no worries, any suggestions you make in the future will, of course, still be taken into consideration and your voice will still mean exactly as much as everyone elses ^_^ So, I hope to hear from any interested parties soon. --Hecko X 18:24, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
Well, it would seem that we have a couple of able bodies ready to take on the job. But for all fairness sake, I'll wait before notifying Sannse, in case people didn't notice this topic, but want to apply.
So is everyone happy that all those volunteering above should be admins? or would you rather vote on a few? You might also want to consider making some of you bureaucrats, so you can make your others admins in the future without having to come to staff... -- sannse<staff /> (talk) 17:27, 24 December 2007 (UTC) So the final list of admin nominees are:
We should vote? Or should I just pick....hehehe... Blue。 19:53, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
I'd like to help, and I'll do so if I can. But my schedule is somewhat uncertain since in 2008, I'll be starting secondary school. I don't really know but I've been told that I'll only have three subjects to deal with during the first three months, and if that is true, I should have a fair amount of free time, because seriously, my daily life consists of school, this computer and homework. But I'd need to know the problems first.TheSwordofDoubt 09:00, 27 December 2007 (UTC) Vote for Bureaucrats
Yes, that would probably work. As for Bueaurcrats, I nominated myself and Blue, solely based on that I have to vote, and out of the six, we are the most experienced with wiki-markup and inner workings of a wikia. --Hecko X 03:27, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
All right, then for Bureaucrates I vote for myself and Hecko, simply because both of us are more than interested to handle and maintain the wiki, and both have knowledge on the wikia works. Blue。 23:52, 28 December 2007 (UTC) I vote Blue and Hecko :) -Azul 03:04, 29 December 2007 (UTC) We're waiting for Nelo and Cloud's vote, though by right we already have a majority. Someone should notify them of this. Blue。 22:45, 29 December 2007 (UTC) I vote Blue and Azul, no pun intended. Cloudofdarkness I personally think that we do not need that many admins. Six is too much. Even in the FFWiki we only have an active four. I think four is just enough. Two bureaucrats and two sysops is more than enough. Blue。 23:26, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
What about mods? The people who aren't admined or whatever, can they be moderators? Just throwing it out there. -Azul 00:49, 30 December 2007 (UTC) Nelo:Blue and Hecko. We need all the help we can get for this wiki, so more admins, the better, and yeah, two Bureaucrats, even though I don't know the differnce. Cloudofdarkness 03:51, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Do you mean that you'll let us all be admins without starting a fuss, cuz' these people get worked up easily (looks at Hecko). And i'm most likely the youngest of us all, I'm 12. Cloudofdarkness 04:10, 30 December 2007 (UTC) Has Everyone Voted? It's obvious Hecko and Blue are the bureaucrats, with that being said Blue who are your two choices of Admins/Syops? -Azul 04:16, 30 December 2007 (UTC) Haven't voted, Azul, but I know it doesn't matter. And I'm about as young as CloudofDarkness.TheSwordofDoubt 05:28, 30 December 2007 (UTC) Sure it does. Admins are decided by the community and since ours isn't that big we need everyone to vote :) -Azul 05:34, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Looks like the "community" consists of FFWiki editors. -Azul 05:53, 30 December 2007 (UTC) Nelo:EDIT CONFLICT' Speaking of admins, It's better to choose those who edits from neutral point of view, most the previous editors here are somewhat "obsessed". Vote for Admins & ModsAll right. We've voted for Bureaucrats. I would think the rest should now vote on who would better be admins and who would become moderators. I won't vote in this one, I'd like you guys to pick two of the admin nominees, aside from me and Hecko who you would want to be admins. The rest will be moderators. You can vote for yourself, of course, but be honest. Blue。 10:10, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
I vote myself and Nelo for the same reason Cloudofdarkness gave. (UPDATE) Hexed has around 30 edits, I have 117, and Nelo has 313. As for Mods Cloudofdarkness and Hexed. -Azul 22:52, 30 December 2007 (UTC) Alright, I've granted sysop rights to three users: Nelo, Hexed and Azul. Congratulations on your promotion to sysop, and I hope we'll make a great KH Wiki. This discussion is now closed. Blue。 00:09, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Cloud, I apologize. It is not that you are insignificant, not at all! The more the merrier, I do agree with Sannse of course, we need all the help we can get to make this Wiki working. However, as a sysop, the responsibility is a bit large and decisions have to be made under close scrutiny, not an easy job I am sure. Please stick around with us, and gather more experience so you can be a sysop in the future. Till then, you are always welcome to the wiki, and don't hesitate to contact me or anyone here, okay? Blue。 00:40, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Bureaucrats set!
too late?I would nominate myself because I am a pompous, cocky prick, but I'm the type who believes that they should have the power to of admin only after backbreaking tireful labor on a wikia. End statement: watch out! muaha --Maverick King 04:22, 31 December 2007 (UTC) Sorry MK but, you a little too late -Azul 04:29, 31 December 2007 (UTC) yea... i noticed..... Guess i got some catching up to do. hehe. --Maverick King 04:42, 31 December 2007 (UTC) Portal made into a portal? As of now, the forums are slowly taking over the use of this place as a discussion area. The initial use of the Community Portal was to be a one-stop listing aka directfor all the Wiki's important pages such as links to wiki policy, wiki help and the like. I will try to do so, if anyone has any objections please say so. Blue。 14:28, 1 January 2008 (UTC) Naming conventionsWe should really do something about the naming conventions here in this wiki. I think some people are also confused as to what name/title should the respective characters be. Overall, why don't we just follow the naming system as shown in Jiminy's Journal. For example, surnames should NOT be added to the title unless it is in the title of the respective character in Jiminy's Journal. An example of surnames being used are the Port Royal characters such as Jack Sparrow, Will Turner etc. But for the other characters, especially the Final Fantasy characters, surnames should be omitted from the title as it is not placed as such in Jiminy's Journal. For example, Squall Leonhart should stay under Leon as even though Squall Leonhart may be his real name, he's normally refered to as Leon, even in Jiminy's Journal the heading of his character page is just simply Leon. Other examples would be Cloud Strife under Cloud, Yuffie Kisaragi under Yuffie and Aerith Gainsborough under Aerith. I still see Tifa's page under Tifa Lockhart instead of Tifa and Selphie under Selphie Tilmitt when it should be Selphie instead. Bear in mind that this is a Kingdom Hearts wiki where surnames are of no importance unlike the Final Fantasy series, and that the FF characters in KH are also not exactly the same ones from the FF series. Any opinions? - DivineLady 04:31, 2 January 2008 (UTC) I'll take the idea, but this wiki's system is ruled by democracy.-Nelo
I say Yes, but we have to see what Blue and Hecko says -Azul 04:36, 2 January 2008 (UTC) Its fine by me, I am getting confused on whos who. Cloudofdarkness 04:43, 2 January 2008 (UTC) Nelo:EDIT CONFLICT as much as Democracy sucks, we still have to wait for Blue and Hecko's opinion. About the policy, we're now trying to revamp it. And I really, really wish that they change the image policy.
Nelo: I'll start the overhaul. Youtube Videos
I don't like them either they make the page look messy. I say remove them. -Azul 20:45, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Nominated the KHWikiI've just nominated the KHWiki to be featured on the Wiki's Community portal. Check it out here and vote for it here peeps. Tell everyone about it so they can vote! :) -Azul 04:35, 15 January 2008 (UTC) (UPDATE): Yes! We are in the lead. Nothing can stop us now! Thanks to the people who voted :) -Azul 00:51, 30 January 2008 (UTC) No prob Azul, I can't wait for the KH wiki to be featured on the Community Portal. I will never forget how much KHII did for me even before it arrived. TheSwordofDoubt 09:06, 30 January 2008 (UTC) HOLY- WHERE DID NONCICLOPEDIA COME FROM?!?!?! XienZo 00:54, 31 January 2008 (UTC) (UPDATE) Nonciclopedia come out of nowhere. They have a message on their front page telling people to vote. I don't think we can catch up with them. Oh well look at the bright side at least we..... uhh...... at least.. hmmm..... -Azul 02:59, 31 January 2008 (UTC) I know some good news. Were winning. Cloudofdarkness 22:31, 31 January 2008 (UTC) Give it a rest, guys, everyone has ther rights to vote what they want. If we suck, then we suck, if the wiki's good, we need no "encouragement" for other users to vote.--N/A06:48, 1 February 2008 (UTC) I just said we're winning. Cloudofdarkness 15:24, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
@COD: Yes, for the time being we are "winning" but nonciclopedia already won featured wiki.
Step twoOkay, we need to think of a new idea to attract people, I posted something on The world that never was also, We're almost done with the "facelift". any ideas, oh and don't mention the underdome Cloudofdarkness 03:05, 31 January 2008 (UTC) |
I hope this is the right place to put this
We need to add some kind of general guideline on editor behavior, though I don't know if it should have teeth, or be a more general "Please be nice". Some of the things that should be mentioned are:
- Never, ever use attacks (i.e., "retard", cussing, "you're a terrible person", etc.). If you have to be angry, attack the argument, not the person.
- When leaving warnings, be dispassionate, and list only the offense.
- Forget whatever else an editor has done when talking with them. If they've done something wrong before, then they should have gotten a warning, but don't hold a grudge against them and continue to mistreat them. (I know I've messed up on that one!)
Any other ideas?
Since venomous editor behavior is something we should be discouraging, I think this is important to do. I'm replacing the behavior request in the sitenotice with a link to the general Traverse Town, but we need to make the guideline prominent for when people get here.Glorious CHAOS! 15:54, November 16, 2009 (UTC)
