Template:Enemy Maleficent is a boss and also one of the main antagonists in all Kingdom Hearts titles except Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Like several other bosses, she takes on a more powerful form after her first defeat, in this case Maleficent (Dragon).
Strategy
- Kingdom Hearts
During this battle, Maleficent attacks from a floating platform. She summons Defenders and Darkballs to aid her in battle and uses powerful magic attacks. Cast Aerora to reduce the damage by half, as well as to deal sufficient damage whilst attacking her. If a player attacks the platform enough, it drops to the ground and Maleficent is open to attack. The player can also cast Gravity on the platform to bring it down.
When Maleficent cries, "Meteors of heaven, unleash thy fury!", move to the far edge of the curved area of the Chapel. This will prevent you from receiving a large amount of damage. Maleficent's other attacks - lightning strikes which follow the party members - are easily avoided by jumping.
If Sora's stats are rather low, then it is advisable to summon Tinker Bell to periodically restore Sora's HP and/or have Cure or Cura as a shortcut on the X button. Defenders drop MP orbs, and Darkballs drop HP orbs, giving you a plentiful supply of the two.
When she is defeated, the player will receive the Cheer Ability for Donald.
- Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep
Maleficent also serves as a boss in Ventus' story, and has a completely different battle strategy. She will constantly teleport around the throne room evading Ventus while casting various spells at him depending on her position. If she is on the side area of the room she will cast a quick bolt of lightning that must be avoided with a dodge roll or she can transform into an orb of light and fly around the room damaging Ventus if she touches him, if she is on the upper area near the throne she call a bombardment of lightning down on Ventus that will strike three bolts at a time for a few seconds forcing Ventus to constantly dodge-roll to avoid damage , when she is in the center of the room she will stand in position and send out waves of green fire that will stun Ventus long enough for her to call in her goons to attack him, this attack can be countered by jumping over the waves or by standing in the circle of light created by the fairies and using the reaction command to charge Ventus' Keyblade with magic that will stun Maleficent for a few seconds, she can also swing her staff at Ventus to knock him away if he is close to her. Her constant teleportation makes her hard to hit but she has low HP so she will fall quickly to strong deck commands and physical attacks.
