In the original game, Kairi is attacked by [[Heartless]], which leaves her as an empty shell. When Sora and Riku are taken from the island, they are seperated from Kairi, and each other. Although she wasn't in Kingdom hearts chain of memoires, she play a very important role. In Soras story Namine tryed to take Kairis place in Sora hearts. However She said that she could never replace Kairi and she was only Kairis shadow. When Sora was about to go to sleep she told him that if remembered Kairis name his the chain of memories would restore faster. In Rikus story Namine took Kairis inage to help Riku control the light and darkness in his heart.In [[Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of memories]] credits it show Kairi waiting for Soras and Rikus return. | |||
