Merged together as Terra-Xehanort, when Terra's heart was acting up during the final confrontation with Aqua; Xehanort turned his keyblade on himself in doing so the elderly master caused himself amnesia temporarily losing the ability to use the weapon. Until after being found and taken in as an apprentice to Ansem the Wise, Xehanort along with his master's other pupils betrayed Ansem and continued the horrible experiments he forbade. In the midst of it all Xehanort briefly reclaimed the use of his keyblade turning it on himself and the rest of former master's students into heartless and nobodies.
