Battling Heartless through their way up the Clock Tower, Ephemer and Player make it to the the tower's center where he introduces Player to Ventus after saving him from the block heartless. Surprised to see that he's here, Ephemer is told by Ventus that he saw an apparition of Master Ava and went looking for Brain to which Ephemer confirms that he's in the control room. Once Ephemer and the others are inside they tell Brain about the trouble outside, through Brain's explaining they discover that there are other worlds but thanks to the Keyblade War the worlds became scattered. In doing so, to create a new future world by using data and that everyone including them were moved from the real Daybreak Town to a data copy of it. Being asked a question by Brain, Ephemer believes we are in the real world, Brain retorts if they were, then data anomalies wouldn't be happening. To which they also hear from Brain that if a world exist in another one there must be a portal access it and that their world is connecting to another world that doesn't exist in time surprising everyone. He agrees with Brain's idea to conduct more research but they won't be able to do that without exploring it firsthand, Ephemer volunteers to go but Brain sees it as too dangerous if something were to happen to him. So Ephemer and Player decide to go together, entering the portal they discover that this corridor is different from the other ones, but also find more heartless.
