Slapshot (スラップショット Surappushotto ) is a technique that appears in Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts II. It allows the user to perform a quick uppercut.
Mechanics
In Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Slapshot is a combat ability that costs 1 AP to equip. It allows Sora to perform a wide uppercut slash instead of his default, slower thrust when near an opponent, and has a chance of dealing a Critical Hit. Due to the fast transitions between attacks, it is possible to actually skip over Slapshot without the attack even delivering.
In Kingdom Hearts II, Slapshot is an action ability that costs 2 AP to equip. It allows Sora to perform a quick uppercut slash when near an opponent, doing slightly more damage than a regular strike and preventing him from getting flung back if he is blocked or parried. Physical defenses such as a Large Body's front notably do not stop the attack. In Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, Sora takes slightly longer to transition to other attacks after performing Slapshot. Its description is erroneously switched with that of Dodge Slash, but this was corrected in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix.
Learning Slapshot
Kingdom Hearts Final Mix
- Sora learns Slapshot at level 6 with the Dream Shield, 12 with the Dream Sword, and 69 with the Dream Rod.
Kingdom Hearts II
- Sora learns Slapshot after freeing the Cornerstone of Light from Pete.
Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix
- Sora learns Slapshot after clearing the Nobodies from Betwixt and Between.
- Limit Form has Slapshot as a default ability.
Other Appearances
In Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Roxas uses an upward slash reminiscent of Slapshot as part of some weapons' attack combos.
