Following Ephemera's disappearance, Player has another dream, this time showing Ephemera meeting with the Vulpes Foreteller, Master Ava, in the Fountain Plaza. When Ephemera notes that Master Ava seems trouble, he reasons that even Foretellers must get worried about things from time to time; teasingly asking Ava if she could divulge the secrets of the Book of Prophecies to him. Ava denies Ephemera, asking if he’s only teasing her because she’s the easiest Foreteller to talk to. After Ephemera denies this, Ava tells him that it’s all right and asks if she’s right to assume that Ephemera is not tightly bound to his Union companions. Rather than answer Ava, Ephemera tells her that he’d made a friend from another Union earlier and that the two of them agreed to meet each other the following day. Hearing this, Ava suggests that Ephemera return home for some rest to prepare. Agreeing Ephemera stands and bids Ava farewell, stating that even though he doesn’t know what’s going on he hopes that Ava gets better. After Ephemera leaves, Ava thanks him and mentions to herself that should something unexpected happen she’ll be leaving it to the children like Ephemera, who are not bound to their Unions. Looking up, Ava is surprised as a dandelion seed floats past her face – to which she calmly says “Fly away and ride the wind… dandelion”.

The dream continues by showing Player meeting with Ephemera, together going to investigate the Clock Tower, only for Player to realize that they're not ready yet to do so. Accepting this, Ephemera tells Player that he’ll be waiting before he fades away in a cluster of dandelion seeds. The Player wakes up at home, revealing everything to have been a dream, also waking up Chirithy in the process. Player tells Chirithy about the dream involving Ephemera, finishing by stating that they intend on looking for him at The Tower. Chirithy shuts down the idea, reasoning that the area is within the Foreteller’s territory and right now isn’t the best time for this kind of thing. Chirithy says that it’s not supposed to tell The Player the details, but trouble has been brewing between the Foretellers of each Union, and so it’s best if Player doesn’t go anywhere near The Clock Tower.

Despite Chirithy’s warning, Player goes to The Clock Tower anyway, but when Chirithy follows Player and reiterates his warning, Player decides to double back and seek answers before progressing any further. Upon further investigation, Player learns that Master Ava plans on gathering superior Keyblade wielders in the Fountain Plaza, no matter what Union they belong to, that she'd been seen associating with Ephemera recently and that she was last seen heading toward the Clock Tower.

Heading toward the Clock Tower entrance in the sewers beneath Daybreak Town, Player and Chirithy finally find Master Ava. Ava questions why Player has sought her out, prompting Player to explain that they’re looking for Ephemera. Shocked and confused, Ava admits to knowing Ephemera, but still doesn’t understand what that has to do with her. Player divulges that he’d had a dream where Ephemera told them to meet him there. Understanding, Ava reiterates that Ephemera is waiting there for them in a dream and that they’re telling her this in the Foreteller’s domain. Master Ava reveals that Ephemera had recently gotten caught up in some trouble that the Foretellers had brought on, and out of all the Foretellers – Ava assumes that The Player found her to be the most suspicious. Accepting this, Ava summons her Keyblade and challenges Player to battle. Eventually, Ava stops the battle, and an exhausted Player falls to the ground. Ava commends Player’s power, but warns them that they harbor sadness in their heart and that they need to overcome it quickly. However, Ava is not too concerned, noting that Player has a good friend by their side in the form of Chirithy, so she’s sure everything will work out fine. Ava advise Player to return home for the night while also making it known to Player that they can’t come to The Tower whenever they feel like it. Understanding, Player leaves with Chirithy, allowing Ava to realize that they are the friend Ephemera had spoken of.
After the Player finishes the Darkball dread in every world and returns to Daybreak Town, Chirithy decides to inform the Player of the history of the Foretellers, the goals of the Unions, and the origins of the Medals, but reminds the Player that each Foreteller has their own reason for collecting Lux.Quest 120: Killing Time Pt. 6

Later that night, Chirithy watches over Player as they sleep; mentioning that they’d had a tough day and that he’d never anticipated having to fight a Foreteller. Master Ava then appears in the room, remarking on her own surprise over the situation, though admitting that she wouldn’t have fought so simply had she been serious – signifying that she was only testing Player’s strength. Chirithy asks Ava about her actions, only for her to ask if it had been the one to show Player the dream with Ephemera. When Chirithy denies this, Ava voices how it may have been Ephemera trying to reach Player from the dream. Chirithy questions what Ava means, so she elaborates by saying that Ephemera had been closing in on the truth, and as such she believes that he’s now in another dimension apart from the free one that they call “Unchained”, and that Ephemera seems to have attempted reaching out to Player from this dimension. Moving closer to Player, Ava suggests that if Ephemera and the dream really are connected, then that could mean that Player is also nearing the Unchained dimension – though whether or not they continues will depend on their heart. Ava then asks Chirithy to protect Player from their nightmares so that Player can fly away and ride the wind one day as well, before disappearing once again. Looking to Player, Chirithy questions what Ava means by protecting them from nightmares.
Following the demise of Chirithy (2), the Foreteller informs Chirithy that despite the Unions' best efforts, darkness continues to grow in power, leading Chirithy to speculate that there is a traitor among the Foretellers.Quest 250: Heartless Havoc: Fountain Square

After witnessing Master Invi and Master Aced's battle and encountering the Black Garment Heartless and Nightmare Chirithy, Player and Skuld continue to the waterways where Player had last seen Ephemera. Skuld asks for confirmation that this is where Player had last seen Ephemera - admitting that she's sure that there's something secret ahead. Before Player and Skuld can continue however, Chirithy blocks their path and asks if they truly intend to keep going even with everything that they'd just seen, admitting that he has an awful feeling about all of this; looking to his feet while Player attempts to comfort him. Skuld asks if she's right to assume that Chirithy knows the layout of the Clock Tower's internal structure, which Chirithy confirms, only for Skuld to order him to lead them onward. Relenting, Chirithy agrees to Skuld's request, reminding Skuld and Player that going further into the Clock Tower really is forbidden, so they have to come right back after a quick peek inside; which Skuld promises to do.
Having returned from Beast's Castle, Chirithy comes to the Player with a new assignment from the Foreteller: they must hunt down Heartless within the Corridors of Darkness themselves, with only a set of Bracelet of Light to survive exposure to the darkness.Quest 491: Corridor of Darkness Pt. 1 After the Player successfully completes this task, Chirithy reports it to the Foreteller, but questions the wisdom of assigning such a dangerous mission. As the three reach the room from Player's dream, Skuld asks where they are, and Chirithy explains that it is the last room - the Foretellers' room - prompting Skuld to question whether or not Ephemera made it that far. Given the situation, Chirithy mentions how, as they could see, there's no one there, and since they are not going to mess around with the things left in the room, it's time for them to go back as promised; stressing how they'd be in serious trouble if anyone found them up there. Skuld reluctantly agrees with Chirithy before taking another quick look around to be sure that there's really nothing up there, admitting that it feels as though they have been side-stepped, causing her to wonder what the dream with Ephemera really meant.

Just then, a voice comes from behind the group, as Master Ira ventures in from the shadows and asks what Player and Skuld think they are doing. Skuld asks Ira to excuse them, as they are looking for a friend of theirs. Master Ira simply asks how Player and Skuld could've possibly gotten in there if Chirithy was accompanying them - only for Chirithy to apologize for bringing them. Walking past Player, Ira reveals that there was another trespasser a few days before, wondering if they were a friend of theirs, which Player confirms. Skuld then asks if Ira knows Ephemera, prompting Ira to elaborate that Ephemera belonged to a Union which was in direct conflict with their own goals as a Union, suggesting that Ephemera must have gotten close to Player and Skuld in order to gather information about their Union. Coldly, Ira states that there was no way they would be seeing Ephemera ever again. Skuld, realizing what Ira is getting at, hastens to admit to herself that Ira had gotten rid of Ephemera. Ira confirms that he'd had Ephemera disappear, prompting shock and concern from Player, Skuld and Chirithy. Skuld insists that Ira won't get away with this, only for Ira to ask what Skuld thinks she's going to do about it. Chirithy then motions to stop Skuld, telling her that she can't and informing Ira that it's his fault and that he is the one responsible for everything that's happened, begging Ira to forgive Player and Skuld.

Player then steps out in front of Chirithy, looking to Ira and stating that, until today, they'd devoted themselves to their Union, to gathering Light in order to save the world and they had even competed against fellow Keyblade wielders that they think of as friends. Originally, they had thought that it was just what had to be done in order to save the world, and so they had tried not to dwell on what it meant, but at the same time someone had asked him that same simple question ("What are you going to do about it?") and that person was none other than Ephemera. Player admits that their encounter with Ephemera was brief, and that Ephemera had even broken a promise with Player - so their memories of Ephemera aren't all good - but they are huge and important to their heart. Player continues, saying that their sure it's because Ephemera was his friend, and that even if these feelings of anger and sadness signify Darkness, simply pushing them away is impossible. Player states that even if it came to crossing their Keyblade against Master Ira, they don't think they'd come away from it with any kind of peace. Perhaps it'd mean they would disappear as well, yet their sure that if Ephemera were there he would do the same. Preparing his stance for battle, Player beckons Master Ira forward into battle, prompting Ira to summon his Keyblade and launch herself into battle against Player.

Despite putting up a good fight against Master Ira, Player is easily defeated. Following the battle, Player is engulfed in a blinding light, which fades to reveal that they are back in the waterways alongside Skuld and Chirithy. Master Ira tells Player that they'd avoided being swallowed by their anger and sadness, and that they'd fought well.

The Foreteller then radiates with light, revealing themselves to have actually been Master Ava the entire time. Ava addresses Player and Skuld and reveals that they'd allowed her to determine the strength of their hearts, as the image of their Foreteller, as well as of the Foreteller's room inside the Clock Tower, had all been an illusion she'd created. Skuld demands an explanation from Master Ava, who explains that, as Ephemera had told her in her dream, the end of the world seems to be coming, and if all of them are swallowed up by the destruction of this world then it would mean the end of the Keyblade wielders. Ava assures Player and Skuld that this is an outcome that must be avoided at all costs, admitting that she's since been carrying out her own missions in order to prepare superior Keyblade wielders - regardless of their Unions - to last into the next world. Chirithy questions what Ava means by this, while Skuld claims that this is all happening too fast and demands to know what happened to Ephemera. Ava explains that, just as she'd said, the world is facing its end, and perhaps Ephemera felt doubt and started to make his own inquiries because he had started to feel that. Ephemera managed to get close to the truth faster than anyone else, so Ava reveals that she'd asked a favor of him. Elaborating, Master Ava says that she'd sent Ephemera to guide the dandelions in her place.
After a long day of pursuing Minute Bomb Heartless, Player returns home for some much needed rest. That night, while Player sleeps, they dream of the Clock Tower, where they see all five Foretellers meeting with someone in a Black Coat, Unknown. Before Player can investigate however, they are surrounded by Darkness and pulled out of the dream; finding Chirithy to be sitting in the room with them when they wake. Chirithy asks what had happened, as it looked as though Player was having a pretty bad nightmare, when Player confirms this, Chirithy advises them to go back to sleep. When Player is sleeping once again, Chirithy turns to the window and asks if he’s right to assume that Chirithy (3) had been the one to get in the way. Chirithy (3) materializes and asks if Chirithy was showing The Player a dream and what it was up to. Coldly, Chirithy claims that his interests are the exact opposite of Chirithy (3). Chirithy (3) sighs and asks if that means that they’ll become enemies before disappearing again. Turning to Player, Chirithy asks itself whether or not it will be able to protect them.

Hearing this, Chirithy asks what Ava means by "dandelions", and so Ava reveals that the dandelions are the Keyblade wielders that will last into the next world, they who shall not witness the world's end. Ava states that it is her duty to establish those dandelions, however she herself must witness the end of the world. Thus, so that he could guide those who are left for Ava once she's gone, Ava sent Ephemera to wait ahead somewhere else. Hearing this, Skuld realizes that Ava's saying that Ephemera's safe, and asks for confirmation; with Ava stating that the world will end because some Keyblade wielders among them have been swallowed by Darkness and that the Nightmare Chirithy is proof of that. In order to prevent the persistence of Darkness in the next world, Ava "shakes" the Hearts of Keyblade wielders in order to choose those who would not submit to the Darkness, and thus she asks if Player and Skuld would join her dandelions.
The next day, Player meets a Keyblade wielder from another Union named Ephemer, who reveals to Player that the Light they've been gathering is not the Light from fairy tales, but instead from illusionary worlds, meaning that the Light actually belongs to Daybreak Town. What Ephemer is interested in is the source of these illusionary worlds, which he believes to be the Book of Prophecies given to the Foretellers. When Ephemer brings the different goals of the Foretellers into question, Player reveals the dream he'd had the night before to Ephemer, prompting them to search for a means of getting into the Clock Tower.

While Skuld is understanding of the situation, Player remains silent, prompting Skuld to ask them what's wrong. Player then questions what will happen to the other Keyblade wielders not chosen to be dandelions, causing Ava to reveal that the world will face an unavoidable Keyblade War. Pondering this, Player asks that they be given time to think over Ava's offer, which Ava understands; stating that Player is under no obligations - though in order to prevent their fall into chaos she asks that none of them speak of this.
Following Ephemer's disappearance, Player has another dream, this time showing Ephemer meeting with the Vulpes Foreteller, Master Ava, in the Fountain Plaza. When Ephemer notes that Master Ava seems trouble, he reasons that even Foretellers must get worried about things from time to time; teasingly asking Ava if she could divulge the secrets of the Book of Prophecies to him. Ava denies Ephemer, asking if he’s only teasing her because she’s the easiest Foreteller to talk to. After Ephemer denies this, Ava tells him that it’s all right and asks if she’s right to assume that Ephemer is not tightly bound to his Union companions. Rather than answer Ava, Ephemer tells her that he’d made a friend from another Union earlier and that the two of them agreed to meet each other the following day. Hearing this, Ava suggests that Ephemer return home for some rest to prepare. Agreeing Ephemer stands and bids Ava farewell, stating that even though he doesn’t know what’s going on he hopes that Ava gets better. Looking up, Ava is surprised as a dandelion seed floats past her face – to which she calmly says “Fly away and ride the wind… dandelion”.

Having parted ways with Player and Chirithy in favor of joining the dandelions so that she can see Ephemera once again, Skuld ventures to the Fountain Plaza, joining nineteen other Keyblade wielders, where Master Ava prepares to address them as a group. Ava explains that in the days that are to come they will be involved in training that will seem to mirror all the missions they’d completed up to this point and relive things that they’d already experienced. However, they will be doing so in a world just like a dream, in a place separate from their world; shocking the group. Ava tells the group that they are the hope and that a great conflict will begin soon between those who share the same wish to protect the Light, only to be divided by nothing but a difference in Union; making enemies of those they once considered to be their friends. Ava admits that she doesn’t know how long she can continue to guide the other Unions true, suggesting that she may even end up being swallowed by the Darkness and swing her Keyblade in the middle of the strife. Even so, the Keyblade War will have no victor and everything will be annihilated as a result. Yet Ava tells the twenty Keyblade wielders before her that she wants them to last on as seeds of hope; directing them not to take part in the battle that follows, instead departing to the outside world. Hence, Ava asks that the Keyblade wielders repeat separate training on a daily basis as they have been. In the end, Ava finished by saying that she’s entrusting the future of the Realm of Light to the Keyblade wielders, with their Hearts guided by the key.
The dream continues by showing Player meeting with Ephemer, together going to investigate the Clock Tower, only for Player to realize that they're not ready yet to do so. Accepting this, Ephemer tells Player that he’ll be waiting before he fades away in a cluster of dandelion seeds. The Player wakes up at home, revealing everything to have been a dream, also waking up Chirithy in the process. Foreteller Ava is a girl with light skin who wears a white and blue fox mask and a pink hooded cloak over a white robe, dark grey shirt, and dark grey sash, each with gold embroidering. Her shirt is worn beneath her cloak, is fastened by the sash, and has long sleeves that extend slightly past her wrists. The tassels on the front of the cloak are light green in coloration.

<!--format for writeup:
Foreteller Ava wields a Keyblade with a dark blue handle. Its pommel and guard resemble a golden bolt of lightning. The base of the blade is an etching of a green-eyed leopard, and the shaft is formed from a golden, spiked blade with a wide, darkened fuller, itself etched with a yellow icon resembling Terra's Mark. The teeth are formed from a web of crystalline spikes, and have another etched icon resembling Terra's Mark. The Keychain is made of small, electrum crystals, and the token is a spiked electrum talisman with an eye of darkness.

notes:
Returning from their mission at Beast's Castle, an exhausted Player and Chirithy encounter another Keyblade wielder named Skuld, who wonders why the Unions are competing for the collection of Light when all the Unions have similar goals, reasoning that at some point people sought to outdo one another and that may have changed their goals ultimately. Abruptly, Skuld asks if she’s right to assume that Player knows Ephemer – shocking both Player and Chirithy – though Skuld explains that she knew Ephemer because they were from the same party. Continuing, Skuld explains that Ephemer had become a Keyblade wielder not long ago, and recently he’d left their party. Skuld admits that the next part is the most important, revealing that Ephemer has since visited her in her dreams and instructed her to help Player. When Chirithy asks why Ephemer would ask her to do such a thing, Skuld admits that she doesn’t know, though ever since Ephemer disappeared she’s felt as though she’s passed by him a hundred times – though he’s never greeted her, and she’s unsure why he’s appearing to her through her dreams; so she’s not even sure why she’d meant to work with Player. Ultimately she’d sought out Player in hopes that they might know something. Player then explains to Skuld that Ephemer’s appeared to them through their dreams as well. Happy to be finally getting somewhere, Skuld asks what Ephemer said and what kind of dream he’d appeared in. When Player explains the dream to Skuld, Skuld is intrigued by the fact that Ephemer had said that he’d be waiting for Player. Skuld then suggests that they return to the place Player went to with Ephemer once more, though Chirithy says that they can’t – as Master Ava had barred them from doing so. However, Skuld suggests that this is because there’s something there; believing that the reason Ephemer wanted her to work alongside Player likely has something to do with that. Skuld then mentions that there’s something else as well, only to be interrupted by a large crashing. Realizing that the sound came from nearby, Skuld summons her Keyblade and suggests that they investigate, with Player and Chirithy following close behind.
The Vulpeus Keyblade is a medley of pastel pink, yellow, and cyan, with a floral motif and a fox image.
Skuld, Player and Chirithy are brought to a stop when they see that the source of the crashing was in fact Master Invi and the Ursus Foreteller, Master Aced, battling across the rooftops of Daybreak Town. Skuld questions why the Foretellers are fighting one another, stating that it seems as though Ephemer was right; confusing Player and Chirithy. Skuld reveals that what she was going to say earlier was actually something that Ephemer told her in her dreams; that the end of the world was drawing near. Chirithy asks what Skuld means, and while she doesn’t know, she does remark on how the end always comes suddenly and without warning – similarly to how Ephemer disappeared.-->

The Foretellers wear masks representing the animals that serve as the emblems of their Unions, as well as hooded cloaks and shirts fastened with a sash. The sleeves of these shirts extend just beyond the wrist.

Vulpeus: The Keyblade's main colors are light pink, yellow, and light sky blue. The blade looks somewhat like a spiral of clouds, water, or even cotton candy. The blade starts out light pink then transitions to yellow, then slightly green, and finally light sky blue. The guard's top and bottom are separated, the top half having the same coloration as the blade, and the bottom half looking like a stylized "M". The handle is an orange-brown architectural column. The hilt bears a fox over an intricate design. The Keyblade's teeth extend from the swirled shaft and bear a pink heart shape with an orange outline. The Keychain's links are copies of the bottom part of the guard and the Keychain token somewhat resembles the token of the Stormfall, bearing a somewhat similar shape. However, the token is a different color and has round top corners instead of pointed ones.-->

Issues: Story material should only include info on them as a group, poss. material on when they are variable, but not info on when a specific Foreteller does something; Story material needs to be much more concise and to the point, not rephrasing of whole conversations -- take a look at the journal entries summarizing the events of a world in KH1 and KH2; finally, story material should be what the Foretellers are doing, not describing an entire scene that happens to contain a Foreteller.

Template:Enemy The Foretellers are a group of Keyblade Masters that appears Kingdom Hearts χ and consists of Invi, Gula, Ira, Aced, and Ava. Together, the Foretellers lead the five Unions and protect the worlds from darkness.

Story

Before Kingdom Hearts χ

According to the Player's Chirithy, the five Foretellers and one other Keyblade wielder were the apprentices of his creator, the "Master of Masters." Shortly before he disappeared, the Master of Masters assigned his disciples new names and gifted five of them with a tome from the Book of Prophecies, which taught them of the event that would doom the world. In an attempt to avert this coming crisis, the Foretellers established Unions to battle the darkness and used the Book of Prophecies to draw power from the future in the form of Medals. As the Player continues to defeat Heartless and retrieve Lux, their Chirithy makes regular reports on their progress to the Foreteller, who occasionally assigns the Player tests of skill in response. Quest 200: Heading Home Pt. 6

After the Player finishes the Darkball dread in every world and returns to Daybreak Town, Chirithy decides to inform the Player of the history of the Foretellers, the goals of the Unions, and the origins of the Medals, but reminds the Player that each Foreteller has their own reason for collecting Lux. Quest 120: Killing Time Pt. 6

Following the demise of Chirithy (2), the Foreteller informs Chirithy that despite the Unions' best efforts, darkness continues to grow in power, leading Chirithy to speculate that there is a traitor among the Foretellers. Quest 250: Heartless Havoc: Fountain Square

Having returned from Beast's Castle, Chirithy comes to the Player with a new assignment from the Foreteller: they must hunt down Heartless within the Corridors of Darkness themselves, with only a set of Bracelet of Light to survive exposure to the darkness. Quest 491: Corridor of Darkness Pt. 1 After the Player successfully completes this task, Chirithy reports it to the Foreteller, but questions the wisdom of assigning such a dangerous mission. The Foreteller explains that the darkness continues to spread, unabated, and that the Unions must grow as much as possible and develop a resistance to the darkness in order to survive.
