Kingdom Hearts: The Keyblade War is an action role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix for the Nintendo 3DS. It is the twelfth installment in the Kingdom Hearts series.
Kingdom Hearts: The Keyblade War utilizes an overhauled battle system that is different from those of previous Kingdom Hearts games; it is a prequel to Kingdom Hearts: Reconnect and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, as well as a direct sequel to Kingdom Hearts χ and its iOS adaptation, Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ. The story of Kingdom Hearts: The Keyblade War focuses on the journeys of young Keyblade wielders; together, they face off against malevolent creatures known as "Heartless" and battle the darkness in a legendary, far-reaching conflict that has embroiled the entire World.

Kingdom Hearts: Reconnect takes place several years after the events of Kingdom Hearts: The Keyblade War. A prequel to Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, it focuses on the time of Master Xehanort and Master Eraqus's apprenticeship. Kingdom Hearts: Reconnect delves even further into the mysteries of the legendary Keyblade War; it helps set the stage for Kingdom Hearts III and, over the course of a single scenario, promises to give players the chance to experience the powers of a true Keyblade Master for the first time ever.
