Apparently there is some reason for them being in their KH1 outfits. Additionally at the start of the trailer, they are both in their KH2 outfits. I'm thinking the KH1 part has something to do with the Mark of Mastery; they actually look like their younger selves, so it seems like a test of some kind. Hard to say. {{User:Soxra/Sig|t=5:38am, January 19, 2011 (UTC)}}

Hunchback of Notre Dame!!

I know that Nomura said this trailer was intended to only give a general feel for the game, I hope the Hunchback of Notre Dame world makes the cut! That would be excellent.

Xemnas
Infinity KHD.png Watched the trailer and, all in all, IT WAS FREAKIN AWESOME. 1) Epic remix of Destati. Gotta love new [versions of] music. 2) New worlds, with Notre Dame being the one we've all wanted for a while. While at first glance I thought they were doing a big recycling of plot points again, it seems I was mistaken. 3) XEMNAS AND ANSEM ARE BACK. Or so it would seem. That was one of my favorite scenes in the trailer. It was going to happen sooner or later.

Only downsides are the kinda stupid-sounding title and the fact that I don't have any intention of getting a 3DS. [sigh] I guess that's what let's plays and this wiki are for.

LapisScarab Xemnas (card).png Good tidings, friends. Today is a momentous day. I am pleased to announce that a new comrade has been chosen to wear the coat. — 22:25, January 18, 2011 (UTC)

The Notre Dame world does look awesome, but as I have established on another forum, I won't be 100% satisfied unless there is an awesome boss fight with Frollo.--Bananaphone1996 01:09, January 19, 2011 (UTC)

That'd be great, Bannanaphone1996 (great name, btw), but, well...I wrote a fanfic in the style of a KH game. I wanted my character to kick that monster's twisted tush, so I made him (with his original Keyblade, no less). It...proved to be less than satisfactory.
...
Though, now that I really think about it, he could've gained power through the darkness, since he was using the Heartless as soldiers before...Okay, I'm with you--awesome boss fight against Frollo! FT 17:31, 17 March 2011 (EDT)

The "general feel" thing that Nomura said was for the original trailer, not this one. This one showed some definitive gameplay, they're not making any major changes at this point.

Notre Dame world looks nice, and I like that wall-jumping thing that Riku does. Keeping fingers crossed for Pixar worlds.

Yeah, I was surprised with the Hunchback of Notre Dame world in the trailer too. For some reason, lately that's become one of my favorite Disney movies. I wonder how the story's gonna go, though? Perhaps Quasimodo as a party member? A big boss battle against Frollo? *shrugs shoulders*

I doubt this is ENTIRELY a memories-type thing. Remember, it's been stated many times that the Disney world list is all-new. You can't have memories of somewhere you've never been, right? Not saying that it couldn't have some memory-type stuff, of course. (And, personally, I'm not exactly going to take the second trailer for its full worth storywise...yet.)FT 17:31, 17 March 2011 (EDT)

Souleater??

Based on what I've witnessed with the trailer, Riku is wielding the Soul Eater. how is that possible?! if this game is for Sora and Riku's Mark of Mastery exams, them why is Riku wielding the Soul Eater instead of Way to the Dawn????

Why? The entire point of this forum is to hold discussions like this.LapisLazuliScarab01:27, January 19, 2011 (UTC)

Hey, if Sora & Riku have their old outfits, why not their old weapons, too?

I have officially had enough of Sora and Riku's KH1 models being reused in like every game they've released since KH2. They milked those models for way too long. Apparently there is some reason for them being in their KH1 outfits. Additionally at the start of the trailer, they are both in their KH2 outfits. Soxxeh 5:38am, January 19, 2011 (UTC)

While I certainly prefer their KHII designs as well, I don't think we know quite enough about the game's story to call it just yet. Like Soxra said, they're in their KHII outfits at the start of the trailer. I don't mind them using older outfits for the same characters, that's harder to "milk" than recycling whole worlds, plot points, and designs for different characters [cough] Vanitas [cough].LapisLazuliScarab05:41, January 19, 2011 (UTC)

I do agree with Ajustice on one part though; the KHII outfits (particularly Sora's) are just so much more majestic and epic than the KHI outfits. It's a shame to see Nomura using them when he can obviously do so much better. Soxxeh 5:45am, January 19, 2011 (UTC)

As many others have said, Sora & Riku WILL have their Kingdom Hearts II outfits at the beggining of the game (and you'll probably get to play as them wearing that in the tutorial or something), but once they take the Mark of Mastery exam, they'll be given back their original clothing. Why? I don't know. I don't care either, as long as the game's awesome.

New Emblems?

Okay, I would like to spend hours talking about how awsome this is but I am going to start my New Years resolution and keep it short and to the point. On the official Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance site, the backdrop for the moment seems to consist of familiar KH symbols and emblems, just like previous compilation titles. EXCEPT for TWO EMBLEMS in particular that stood out to me, and they are completly NEW and never before seen. They kinda look like a cross between the Heartless and Unversed emblems (maybe the Nobody emblem to some degree) and although they both look similar to each other, one is more smooth and gentle like the KH logo, and the other is more pointy and jagedy like the enemy emblems. Could they describe new enemies, the return of Ansem and Xemnas, or somone or something else? (Well, this is "shorter")

You're referring to the far left and right images in this picture?

24o0eup.jpg

Well, they both look like odd crosses of Heartless and Unversed using different parts of the respective emblems. The question then becomes, is it a coincidence, Nomura just recycling old styles for new logos, or some kind of significance toward Xehanort and co.?

I'm expecting a new enemy since every main game so far has a new enemy. "My friends are my power!" 06:53, January 19, 2011 (UTC)

A combination of Heartless/Nobody-like enemy? A Heartbody? A Noheart? I dunno. Wait... Noheart?! Anybody notice that?!

Well, both Ansem and Xemnas were shown in the trailer, which means they're probably working together. I dunno, I guess they joined their evil armies together. Mar 23:40, January 22, 2011 (UTC)

Xehanort

Do you think Xehanort whereabouts and status will be revealed in the game?(User:Sapiro)

IF YOU HAVE SEEN THE TRAILER OR THE SCANS PLEASE KEEP IN MIND

"Nomura has said in an interview that these scenes are not from the actual game, but rather, "The trailer merely portrayed the overall feeling of the game."

Come on people, it's on the article for goodness sake. The trailer is so beta that none of it will probably make it into the game. I'm not saying that the world that appears to be based on Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame will be cut or that Sora and Riku's new parkour abilities were just for the trailer, I'm just saying that we shouldn't get all confused over their appearances or why a million Sora's rain from the sky etc.

For all we know Sora and Riku may appear as they did from KH2 and onward. Maybe they have new costumes that SE didn't want to reveal yet. Who knows, but the trailer holds no answers.--ΧƳƵach. 06:33, January 23, 2011 (UTC)

There's magazine scans backing up the Notre Dame world, but otherwise I'd agree. But still, that's what a forum is for; jumping to comclusions and speculating.LapisLazuliScarab06:39, January 23, 2011 (UTC)

Plus the trailer at that event wasn't the same one from E3. maggosh 06:45, January 23, 2011 (UTC)

The trailers have a few differences, but are almost identical. The E3 trailer had more footage of Sora on Destiny Islands and Sora preparing to fight Twilight Thorn in Traverse Town 2nd District and the new trailer feature Ansem Seeker of Darkness and Xemnas instead.:--ΧƳƵach. 07:00, January 23, 2011 (UTC)

and the new one has gameplay footage, so what Nomura said might only apply for the first trailer. Mobile sprite-shadowdance.pngThe17masterMobile sprite-shadowdizzy.png 07:06, January 23, 2011 (UTC)

Did the E3 descriptions specifically say that no gameplay was featured?--ΧƳƵach. 07:15, January 23, 2011 (UTC)

Hey everyone. Now I'm sure you have all seen the new (or only ) publicly relaesed trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream, Drop, Distance. Seems pretty cool right, but as always, no early KH trailer is without its mysteries and therfore its speculation among fans. With that topic I would like to point out something. Has anyone ever noticed that when Riku/Sora fights Ansem/Xemnas that whoever he is fighting the other is a ghost behind his back? Seriously. I didn't notice it when the trailer leaked all those days ago (probably because I was still in shock of Sora jumping off of a building and deaf from all of the fan-girls out there screaming their heads off from seeing all of those Soras) but now having seen the officialy released HD version, I've noticed that there might be more going on behind Xehanort's back, litteraly. Let me clairify. When Riku first appears, so does Ansem, but if you look closely, Xemnas is transparent and hiding behind him (I noticed this when I saw Xemnas's spiky hair behind Ansems silky flat hair). Then, when Sora comes out at possibly the same time(?), Xemnas is there, but like before, Ansem is hiding behind Xemnas's back, transpairently (again, the transparent hair is a dead giveaway).I'm not exactly sure what to make of this but maybe this has to do with Nomura's "Time-Limit" sequence between Sora and Riku, maybe if you're switching back and forth between Riku and Sora during the whole fight, maybe Ansem and Xemnas are doing the same. Your thoughts (and sorry about the Wall-o-Text, this isn't looking good for my New-Year's ressolution)?

25px-Triforce_%28Ocarina_of_Time%29.png Holy cripes. I didn't notice that until you mentioned it. (This is going kinda off topic) There was an episode of The Big Bang Theory where Sheldon gets mad at Leonard and Penny and pretends he's in a parallel dimension that occupies the same space, but he can't do anything to affect the other dimension. Maybe it's something like that...?

maggosh The steel is forged... "Souls as far as the eye can see..."

I actually think Xehanort is going through the Xion Prinze Supple. Allow me to explain; Xion's appearance would shift depending on the memories she contained and whoever saw her. She wielded Ventus's Keyblade, so she took on Ventus's appearance at one point; she had Sora's memory of Kairi, so she took on her appearance, made from Sora's memory so she took on his, and the list goes on. Xehanort being ressurected, he undoubtedly would have the memories of both Ansem and Xemnas. So Riku, having been possessed by Ansem and his darkness for a year, would see Xehanort as Ansem, and Sora, his Nobody and Replica having memories of their Superior, and himself having defeated him, would most likely see him as Xemnas. Of course, this would imply to some degree that Xehanort was a Replica to begin with - and that knowledge could have been passed on to Vexen all those years later, but I digress - and that's because I didn't exactly think that part through until I started typing this out here and my theory could be terribly flawed. But hey, Riku and Sora are in their Kingdom Hearts outfits, so anything's possible.

Long story short; Riku and Sora are "seeing" Xehanort as Ansem or Xemnas because of the latter's memories.
