Quests are features that are exclusive to Kingdom Hearts Re:coded. Players are given quests from quest-givers, when they are in Questploration, a mode that allows Data-Sora to roam freely within the world. Questploration is unlocked for each world, except Hollow Bastion II and Castle Oblivion, after the world's story is completed. Additional System Sectors can be found while in Questploration if the player's Scan level is high enough.

Each world with a Questploration option available, excluding Hollow Bastion I, has a specific quest-giver who gives three quests. Quests involve finding a specific key item, either from System Sectors, shops or boss rewards, and returning it to the owner who will then reward the player.
