The Inexistent - All the world's a puzzle, and I the one who made it so...
TALK -
EVIL has come... at last...
Yesterday at the Roundtable, one of the items I had asked to be discussed was when we should start creating walkthroughs. However, only a few seconds into the matter, it veered drastically off subject. Prod and bud were wondering why we were hosting the walkthroughs on the wiki as opposed to on, say, Strategy Wiki. Since neither side of the argument could be satisfied, we decided to move on in the agenda, and move the issue to the forums. The procedure will be simple: we will have a vote. If you prefer to have walkthroughs hosted off- wiki, place your vote there. If you want them here, place your vote there. Discussion will be below. The vote concludes at the end of August.

Votes to have walkthroughs off- wiki

Please post where you would rather host them in your vote

TALK - The great transition.
I feel hosting them off- wiki would be completely pointless. It would just be easier to host them here. Hosting them off- wiki would demoralize editors, be less illustrative, and extremely redundant. If you read the meeting logs, I listed several other reasons there. But every time I asked, it was never answered. Why host on SW? Is there a good reason? I do not feel that there is.
  • I'm not voting, as I'm just suggesting an alternative. But to answer the question of why, the basic goal of StrategyWiki is to have the best, most detailed, fully illustrated guides on the net for "every" game. Having some of the biggest fans of the Kingdom Hearts series, combined with the experience/skills of the guide writers/layout people at StrategyWiki, could create some very nice guides. The goal is to be a single stop for anyone looking for a game guide. If they want more in depth information, they're pointed to Kingdom Hearts (or the relevant series' wiki). And vice versa, if the person is looking for guides, they can come to SW, and find guides for whatever game they need. -- Prod 20:24, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

TALK -
We have the images, infrastructure, and links here, and we already have many pieces of walkthroughs and appendix material, like Mythril or Blitz. It doesn't make sense to have a collected, centralized version of all that material that is not on our wiki. Furthermore, placing the walkthrough on a separate wiki makes it much more cumbersome for editors to keep track of the edits that are occuring to the walkthroughs.

The goal of our wiki's walkthroughs is to be fully comprehensive. As far as I know, that jives with strategywiki's scope. If strategywiki is willing to have the walkthroughs be regularly synced between the wikis (same articles on both wikis, so that they can be worked on by editors from both wikis without requiring anyone to lurk a wiki they aren't already), then that is a perfectly acceptable option. But it simply makes no damn sense to have the walkthrough there and not here.

Summary: The walkthrough must be here. It can also be there if they want it.
