Heartless Emblem.pngWhile I was looking through the FF characters' articles while I saw the origin section is drammatically different. The most extreme difference is:
  • From Wakka:
    • In Final Fantasy X, Wakka is a major character and a twenty-three year old professional blitzball player. His name means "water" in Ainu, a near-extinct Japanese dialect. In addition to being one of Yuna's guardians and childhood friends, he is captain of the Besaid Aurochs, a blitzball team that, as of the beginning of Final Fantasy X, went twenty-three years without winning a single game. He uses blitzballs as his weapons in battle, making him the only character who can reliably hit flying enemies, as well as making him and Lulu the only characters who can attack physically at range. Wakka seems somewhat socially conservative, dependent on others and on the rules (such as Yevon's teachings) for his decisions. He lost his younger brother Chappu to Sin, an event he never fully recovered from. He forms a close brotherly relationship with Tidus, partially fueled by his resemblance to Chappu, though Lulu constantly has to remind him that Tidus isn't Chappu. Nevertheless, Wakka gives Tidus his signature weapon which he previously gave Chappu. Six months after the events of Final Fantasy X, he marries Lulu. In Final Fantasy X-2, he becomes a father to her baby, Vidina, a name thought up by Wakka. "Vidina" translates as "future" in the Al Bhed language, and is Wakka's declaration that he has let go of Yevon's teachings, which were biased against Al Bhed, and even part Al Bhed such as Yuna.
  • From Cloud:
    • Cloud Strife was originally the main protagonist from Final Fantasy VII, a console role-playing game that was developed by Square (now Square Enix) and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for Sony's PlayStation. It was released in Japan on January 31, 1997, and in North America on September 7, 1997. Contrary to Kingdom Hearts II, in Final Fantasy VII Cloud never made it into SOLDIER, but rather adopted memories from Zack Fair, a friend of his who was a real SOLDIER 1st Class.

As you can see, Wakka's section is overflowing with information that focuses a lot on his story and relationship with other characters in FFX. Cloud's section, however, is pitiful. About 60-70% of the section is about FFVII itself. The only mention of the his story doesn't even focus on the main FFVII story. There is absolutely no mention of Tifa, Aerith, Sephiroth, etc. We obviously need some kind of model to base all FF Origin sections on. Any thoughts?

While Cloud's section certainly needs some expansion, Wakka's is far from ideal -- it focuses far too much on material that is irrelevant to his use in KH. For example, if we were describing the etymology of the Shiva Belt, the relevant details would be that Shiva was the signature Ice Summon in the FF series; not any details about her previous life as a human in FFX, or how to get her crystal in Dissidia. Wakka's section should focus on the details that are relevant to KH, specifically those that are referenced or played on by KH: his blitzball career, his friendship with Tidus, his manner of speech, etc. His relationship with Yuna and Lulu are in fact completely irrelevant, here, as is mentioning his brother Chappu.

For Cloud, there definitely needs to be mention of his relationship with Sephiroth and Tifa, with specific focus on how that relationship is mirrored in KH (Sephiroth is Cloud's darkness > Cloud is a Sephiroth clone; Tifa is Cloud's light > Tifa is the one to break down Cloud's mental prisons). Aerith's minor interaction with Cloud in KHII might be a reference (I haven't finished FFVII, I wouldn't know), but there shouldn't be any mention of Zack, since he has no connection to them in KH.

It might also be relevant to mention the Chocobo-hair thing, though, since that's explicitly harped on by the Keychain.

Total PWNAGE! — 12:41, 12 July 2011 (EDT)

Heartless Emblem.pngI'm sorry I think you misunderstood. I never said that Wakka's section was ideal at all. In fact, I said it was overflowing. Both of them are bad in their own way. So we want basically nothing that's non-KH related?

PS good luck fighting Safer-Sephiroth. Took me a long while.

That's fair. To clarify: all material in the origin should be material that gives an explanation for why this FF character was used this way in KH; basically, it should be "explaining the joke". Material that goes beyond that (for example, going into detail about Angeal and Genesis on Zack's page) is irrelevant to the article, and puts undue emphasis on a totally separate topic.
